Hello. My husband and I (and our dog, no kids yet) just recently moved to Marietta, GA from the San Francisco area (via Chicago). I am 31 and a controller for a software company. I would love to start a supper club . . . I am very interested in meeting new people, enjoying great food (whether it's us cooking or trying out new restaurants), and having a fun time all around!!! Please let me know if you would be interested. If we can get 10 or so to join up, I'll get it all organized!

Thanks.

I live in Smyrna and would be interested in joining. We have dinner parties with neighbors, but without the Cooking Light twist. Plus I would love to meet some new folks. My husband might join on rare occasions.

Thanks!

Hi KLane -

Thanks for the reply! I imagine my husband will join a few of these as well. And I am really looking forward to meeting new folks, especially as we are new to the area. Back in SF, we were the couple that always had the blow out BBQ's/Dinner parties . . . usually 25+ in attendence . . . and we loved it . . . everyone would bring something . . . so we always had good food, good wine (with Napa Valley being right up the road), and great fun. I'm hoping we can recreate that here in Georgia!

I would be interested. My husband and I moved here from MN. (2 cats no kids.) He would join most if not all meetings, if this is intended to be a couples thing.

Hey Basil87!

While this isn't inteneded to be a couples only thing, I'm sure we will all get our husbands to some if not all of the events . . . which would be great b/c the more the merrier!

I thought I would leave this thread open until the end of October and then pull all the interested parties together for a meeting in early November. Will this timeframe work for you?

I (and maybe my husband at times) would be interested as well. We live in Marietta. I had been part of a club previously, but we were so spread out across the metro area that it was a huge production to get everyone together and we eventually stopped meeting. Please let me know when you plan to get together!

I'm not positive, but right now I'm expecting my parents to be visiting afternoon through evening of the 2nd. Other than that I can be available. Let me know what time/day works for everyone!

What timing! Some friends and I have been talking about starting up a Marietta Supper Club for months, but just haven't been able to get it together! I am definitely interested, please count me in.

I will be traveling next weekend, though, and am unable to meet. Please let me know what the plans are. I have several other friends that will be interested in joining too. Thanks Lisa123!

Hi MRosone0264!

What delightful news! I am so glad you can join us. And it appears that the first weekend in November doesn't really work for anyone . . . so how does the following weekend work for you (and everyone else). . . Nov 8 or 9?

Thanks.

I am hosting a Premier Designs Jewelry Party on the afternoon of the 9th, but should be available the 8th or the evening of the 9th. In fact, let me know if anyone's interested in attending the Jewelry Party, and maybe we can piggyback our first Supper Club meeting off of that at my house.

Is this first meeting just a meet/greet and planning session? Thanks!

Hello all.

So as I can coordinate our first meeting, I was wondering if you could shoot me back an email letting me know the following:

1. Will Saturday, November 8 in the morning work? If so, what time works best for you?
2. Will Saturday, November 8 in the afternoon work? If so, what time works best for you?
3. Will Sunday, November 9 in the morning work? If so, what time works best for you?
4. Will Sunday, November 9 in the afternoon work? If so, what time works best for you?
5. Will Sunday, November 9 in the evening work? If so, what time works best for you?
6. If you are completely unavailable the weekend of Nov 8/9, can you please send over a date and time that would?
7. What town do you live in? . . . once I know this, I will try to locate someplace central for us all to meet.
8. Could you send me over your user name in Cooklight and your real name?
9. Could you send all this info to my email address: lisa_jacobs@peoplesoft.com

And as a first meeting, I thought we would do a meet & greet and then discuss our first "live" supper club particulars (where, when, etc)!

Looking forward to meeting you all!

Thanks.

Hello all.

Ok, mark your calendars! As you can imagine, it was difficult to come up with a time that worked for everyone so I had to go with "majority rules" . . . but I still think it should work out for all. So, our first meeting will be held on November 9 at 5pm.

And we are all scattered, so I was thinking we could meet at the cafe in the Borders book store on Barrett Parkway. Please let me know if that is extremely far away for you and I will try to locate someplace else.

Also, in order for us all to figure out who each other is, I will wear a denim shirt with a "PeopleSoft" logo on it and tan pants (and I have shoulder length brown hair).

Well, looking forward to meeting you all . . . how very exciting!!!

Hi,

I'm Judith. I live in Marietta and think this is an amazing idea. I e-mailed Lisa Jacobs and now am trying to find out how to post a message, so this is a test. I am going to attend the November 9th meeting and couldn't tell if we were bringing a dish.

It was great meeting everyone at Melissa's lovely home last Sunday. Wanted to pass on a tip. Made dry turkeys for 17 years regardless of procedure, bags, foil, etc. Heard on country music station about 5 years ago take the turkey and put it in ice water (big blocks of ice work best) enough to cover and then put about at least a cup of salt in the ice water. THOROUGHLY rinse the salt water from the turkey the morning of Thanksgiving. You take the turkey and put it upside down in the oven at 450 degrees covered by foil (not fanatically seamed)with your normal butter, broth, white wine, seasonings deal you use as the base for your gravy in the roasting pan for 45 minutes after rubbing the entire turkey with butter. Then you flip the turkey over and continue cooking at 325 degrees until it's done. It's very important to get all the salt out from underneath the turkey's skin, but if you do, it is amazingly moist. Have a happy holiday and I look forward to seeing everyone on the 7th!

I left out that you put the turkey in the salted ice water the night before Thanksgiving. it should be in there for at least 6-8 hours.

Hi, my name is Andrea, and I've been trying to start a group in Panana City, with no luck! I just moved here 2 months ago from WA, and my husband arrived last night from Guam!

Please let me know if you have room for another couple!

In my old supper club, we had a hard time getting together in December, so we would just meet for appetizers and desserts!

Thanks,
Andrea
