I'm getting married in March and my fiance and I were discussing gifts for the wedding party last night. He is having two Best Men (yep, two - he didn't want to choose one over the other) and he wants to give them each a gift certificate to a nice restaurant. We've got one of the guys covered who lives here in Seattle, but the other lives in Phoenix. Can anyone recommend an upscale restaurant where we might purchase their gift? I've been to Phoenix many times to visit my Gram, but have never really experienced what the area has to offer food-wise. We are looking to spend $100 on each gift if that helps. A steakhouse type place would suit his friend well, but I'm open to anything. Thanks so much for any help! I asked my Gram what she thought and she suggested Red Lobster. :)

I'm sure the Phoenix people will chime in, but a restaurant we enjoyed last year was Roy's (http://www.roysrestaurant.com/). The focus is on seafood, though I do think they have steaks, too. I know they offer gift certificates since I received one as a present last year. :)

lol - I was going to suggest Roy's too. If you want to go the steakhouse route, Morton's, Ruth's Chris and Capital Grille are all here.

I just recieved a gift certificate to the Capital Grill and it looks fantastic. My friends who gave it to me raved over the food and service, so don't think you can go wrong with that one either.

Thought I would include the website link:

Wow, Roy's looks so good! I'm going to take my Gram there the next we visit. :) Capitol Grille looks like a contender, too. Thank you for the help!

I really like Mancuso's, there is one on Scottsdale Rd, at the Biltmore, and they're opening a 2nd in N. Scottsdale & Ashler Hills.

If I can think of anything else upscale I'll be back.

Ann - I think Mancuso's is at the Borgata, unless they've moved.

There are some interesting small, non-chain, type restaurants like ConVivo and Eleve that are terrific-- both are in Phoenix. Mosaic is a high end, eclectic restaurant that is highly regarded. Rancho Pinot Grill is another option. Both Mosaic and Rancho are in Scottsdale.

While it is certainly debatable, many people I know consider Flemings to be the best steakhouse in Phoenix.

There are really some great restaurants in Phoenix. I'd try to stay away from the chains and go for one of the interesting independents.

Barrie,

Thank you, You are correct, I stand corrected!

I just read somewhere the "The Keg Steakhouse" located at Desert Ridge Marketplace, is supposed to be really good. I have not been, so, I can't say for sure, just what I read.

JanetJ-DH & I just returned on Oct 12 from PHX. Because of the suggestions on the board we had an outstanding meal at Roys. We were staying at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa (where there is a Roys).

Another suggestion...we had wonderful sushi at a fun/nice restaurant called RA (like raw). I am sorry, but I don't have a clue as to how to tell you where it is located. DH has a built-in GPS so he does all of our navigating.

Congrats. on your wedding.
