You guys will never guess what DH bought me for our 3rd anniversary. No, really, you'll never guess. He bought me....
A MEAT GRINDER
This almost beats the time my uncle bought my aunt a septic tank for their 25th. Ok, so not even close there, but a meat grinder?!
I do plan on using it though

Hey, at least he didn't get you:
A power saw
A shotgun
A subscription to Playboy or Penthouse
A dremel (sp?) tool
A kitchen gadget that you have had for years but he doesn't know about
or...
Nothing at all
but still... a MEAT GRINDER??? hmmm...

nothing says I love you more than a meat grinder. You just gave me a great Idea for X-mas.

my third anniversary is a week from today. thank God there is no chance my DH will be reading this thread. (Lisa, you are going to have to get control over that DH of yours. ;) )
but anyway, that doesn't mean that a good gift (or any gift at all) is in my future.
happy anniversary, Jen!

I wonder if Lisa, Sandy or Ms. Manners asked him to remove it. Or...maybe the CL administrators?
Or those darned Gremlins?

Hey, it's the thought that counts. After 17 years, I just go out and buy what I want. (Actually, I think I started doing that after the 3rd year.):o

DH actually is a very, very good gift giver (I also got the companion to Gravity's Rainbow and a DVD copy of Dr.Strangelove), and I did want a meat grinder and sausage stuffer...just maybe not for an anniversary gift. DH is a sweetie, though, and he was sooooooo excited and cute when he was giving me the grinder. He totally thinks it rocks that I have a kitchen appliance with a drive train. I really should cut him some slack. For the record, I got him an obscure UK published Mervyn Peake book (Letters from a Lost Uncle), a Alice and Wonderland (hardcover) set of books illustrated by Peake, and a tasting box of region specific chocolates. We could both buy gifts for each other all day...
Oh, and Alton Brown is in town on Saturday. Think I may have to go and "thank" him...it's all his fault that I got the grinder (we watched his sausage show the other night, after which I expressly told DH that I WAS NOT getting a meat grinder for our anniversary...). Wonder what Alton would do if I just walked up to him and was like "Thanks. Thanks A LOT. Thanks to you I got a meat grinder for my anniversary."

If I were you, I'd be offering to grind his meat right about now. :p

See, the funniest thing about it is that a couple of nights ago we were watching a special on the Donner Party, and I told him straight up that if I was honest-to-God starving to death I would have NO problem eating him. I really didn't think he'd want to make the process any easier :p
Sorry, Dh and I have twiiiisted senses of humour.

Yeah, what is up with that? I will never understand what it is about tools that makes their eyes glaze over in org@smic delight. Would it make you feel any better if I told you I once worked with a woman who gave her husband a tombstone??? (I forget the occasion). At least I don't think she put the 'end' date on it.

He's going to be at the Cooking Show. I think it's at the Raleigh Convention Center, but I'll have to check my info. There was an article in Wed. N&O.

Thanks for the info. I hadn't even heard about the cooking show. I'll do a search online and find out the details.
I can't spend any more money, though:rolleyes: I live across the street from the new A Southern Season and I have practically lived there since they opened.
Are you going to see Alton Brown?
Beth
