Does this sound familiar to anyone? I had a friend who used to make this for dinner parties all the time, and it was awesome!! She would top melted brie with jalepeno jelly, bacon bits, and green onions. Not exactly light, but I would love to have the recipe, or something like it...I think I actually saw a post on here about it, but I can't find any jalepeno jelly-do you have to make your own, or can you get it pre-made? And if you have to make it, does anyone have a recipe for me?

Thanks in advance,

We made our first batch of hot pepper jelly this year with jalapenos. If you can find Certo (liquid pectin) there is a recipe with it. We have not tried it yet, so I cannot tell you how good it is. I also know that you can buy it at gourmet or fine food or even gift basket stores. I have never looked for it at a grocery store though. Good luck!

I found it at my grocery store recently, but it's a new item. I'd searched for it for a long time all over and no one had it, so it's an unusual item to be sure. I think Williams-Sonoma may have it, and if you really want to find it easily, just do a google search and you can surely order it online somewhere. Sometimes even paying a higher price plus shipping is worth it compared to how much time you spend driving from store to store to store in search of something.

I have several recipes for it, but not at work! I'll post them here when I get home later this afternoon. There is also a cranberry jalapeno jelly which is awesome as well. I like it on my turkey sandwiches. ;)

I used to have to search high and low for it (all friends had standing orders to buy jars for me if they saw it anywhere) but now, my local grocery store carries it all the time--Knott's makes both a red and a green, and it's with all the other "high end" jellies and curds at my store.

Don't know if this is the one badunnin is referring to but it's good...

I am a bit of a hot pepper fanatic... some of the best hot pepper jelly I have ever eaten was from a stall in that famous farmer's market in Seattle... but for those of you who cannot make the trip here are some links:

If you can find a Chile Pepper Magazine, it has excellent resources for anything involving chiles...

(If anyone is in Ohio there is a Grandpa's Cheesebarn off of 71 between Columbus and Cleveland that has awesome pepper jellies :))

awesome might not be a good enough word for it! :) the fish guys directed me to some amazing sushi too, so that's always a bonus.

The best farmer's market I have ever been to in the US is in Madison, Wisconsin. They have it every Saturday morning (seasonally, of course) around the state capitol. If it was good enough to drag this lazy college student out of bed at the crack of dawn on Saturdays, it had to be amazing. :) I would -love- some fresh cottage cheese-- I miss having access to those sorts of foods :( o well..

I make my baked brie with fig jelly. Just cut the top rind off of a 6" brie. Place it on a square of puff pastry dough. Wrap the dough around the brie. Bake about 15 minutes, until the dough is brown. Ta-dum.

You might know this already, but what we do around the holidays is get two packages of block cream cheese. Lay them out side by side. Arrange bagel chips around the plate and put the red jalapeno jelly on top of one block of cream cheese and then the green jalapeno jelly on the other. The bagel chips somewhat hold it in place. Looks very pretty and festive and very quick to prepare.

Taste great too
