Help needed!
I'm involved in putting together our first cookbook for the Madison, WI Junior League. I'm the dessert captain who is in charge of collecting/organizing/testing all the desserts. The committee chair has asked each captain to come up with a catchy name for each section before our next meeting! So...I'm looking to you for ideas for Desserts! Here's an example..."Opening Night" , for appetizers.
I'ts been fun working on this committee, but it's also a lot of work. I never realized all the work that goes into publishing a cookbook!!
Looking forward to hearing your ideas!!

How about "sweet dreams", "sweets for the sweet", or "sweet endings"
Not terribly original....

Just don't use "Happy Endings" like CL does - I snicker everytime I see that. (Yes, that is my sense of humor. )

"The Grand Finale"
Guess that's not too original either.

"Last but Not Least"
"Save the Best for Last"
"The Final Curtain" (if you're doing a theme to go with "Opening Night")
"The Nutcracker SWEET" (adapted from our chimney sweeper's truck!)

I guess I'll admit that I don't know what dolce means and I hope I'm not the only one on this board who doesn't.
How about "ENCORE! ENCORE!"?
:D

Hey, no particular reason you should, Emilie! It's Italian for "sweet". In Italy (well, many places) they call dessert "sweets" or dolci (plural takes an "i").

File that one under "Oh I knew that!"
After all the Italian cookbooks I've been reading you'd think I'd remember what dolce means. My brain was focused on theater terms.
Thanks for the refresher.

I got the dolce, but admit that I don't get "dolce and banana." More explanations needed, pls.
Tracie - I'm trying to think of something but not feeling creative yet. Will go have more coffee first and try again :-)
Is there a theme for the book overall? What's the title? Is the artwork done? That might trigger some ideas.

The book has a whimsical cover with a lady holding a platter that has a clear dome lid(to represent our Capitol). The name is "A City thats...Mad about Food"! The cover has many bright colors of red, purple, blue and a touch of black. It could be something related to the Capitol or related to something in Wisconsin, etc. It's a book that will work for Gourmet cooks as well as your basic cooks. So, it doesn't have to be fancy or formal. We're pretty relaxed in Wisconsin!
Hope that gives you a little more help? Thanks for the ideas so far!!

I think "the dessert cart" also sounds like it would be a great fit with the tone of the book...and so much potential for illustration!

I like "dessert cart" also. If you wanted to do something with the mad about food time, how about "Crazy Sweets" or "Crazy Desserts"
and Bethany: thanks for the dolce and banana explanation, I was thinking it was an inside joke

I like "The Desert Cart" too. It makes me think of the carts that waitpersons bring to your table to show you what they have as far as deserts.

How about "All's well that ends well"
or "Feast Fini"
or my favorite line "Darling don't be silly, there's always room for dessert!"
or in the Mad vein... "Dessert Dementia??" ok maybe that's pushing it.
Madison is a great food town. Last V-day we went to Le Toile and wholeheartedly enjoyed! Their price fix was sooooo good. I'll have to look for your book next time we are there as it sounds like a good one. Will it be out soon?

Are you going to sell your book nationally? If not you need to allow your BB buddies to buy the book, after all they did have a part in it;)

Anyway here are mine:
- The Sweet Life
- Sweets for the Sweet
- Room for Dessert (although Rosie beat me to that one)
- "Oh, no, I couldn't..." :D
- Sugar and Spice

Unfortunately we had a lot to discuss and didn't get to the titles! I did show one of the girls in charge, and she liked a lot of them.
We ended up having a nice evening which included testing a few recipes...a potato soup (very good), tomato soup (very good), a spinach salad, bread sticks, and two desserts! They were all very good!
I will have to get back to you on what we decide!
To be continued.......
