I have digestive problems, and regular wheat pasta seems to aggravate them. It's not an allergy though. Anyway, has anyone ever tried rice pasta before? What is the taste and texture like? Also, for those who have tried both brown and white rice pastas, how does the taste and texture differ between the two? I also saw some quinoa pasta. Has anyone tried that?

Hi there! Because of wheat allergies I use different pasta rice, potato, corn & quinoa.
I like the corn pasta & I think the brown pasta and specially tagliatelly etc has a better texture. The potato pasta I have not used in a while but follow instructions as they can get like a glub if overcooked. My favorite now is quinoa. I like the diff varieties and they are great in salads etc.I would recommend starting with quinoa.
You mentioned having digestive problems could you have a glutten intolerance (celiac?)

I second the quinoa recommendation, with the corn pasta a close second.

I have tried brown rice pasta, which seemed to me to resemble Japanese soba noodles in texture and taste. You have to experiment with cooking times for these "replacement" pastas - I had to cook the brown rice pasta much longer than the corn.

I tasted corn pasta and didn't like it. I bought brown and white rice pastas and will try and see. I've seen quinoa pasta and will try it next. I've never seen or heard of potato pasta. Sounds interesting. I don't have celiac, just a lot of bloating and intestinal gas.

I bought some blue corn pasta at my local grocery and absolutely couldn't eat it. It just had a dreadful flavor. My family, who's usually pretty forgiving, agreed. It went in the trash. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/frown.gif
