So the sad story is that my oven DIED on Thanksgiving day (with my signature maple-rum souffled pumpkin pies inside). The house was being painted the following week, so I just now had the repair man in. NOW WE DON'T KNOW IF IT CAN BE FIXED! Argh. So I have been without an oven for 10 days, and it will be a while longer.

I need help! I need dinner suggestions that require baking! I suppose I should put some stews and chilis on the menu.......... I do have a nice indoor grill, a crock pot, the stove works. Help!

(No bake dessert ideas would be nice too. I made crepes last weekend - one must always have dessert on Sunday)

Avril, so sorry to hear your oven died! I always like to make risotto in the cooler months; no oven required. :) I'm having a more difficult time coming up with dessert ideas. Maybe you could saute some pears (or apples, whatever you like) and top with a brown sugar/ cinnamon/ melted butter sauce? Kind of like a streusel. Just a thought.

stir fry
curry chicken
turkey breast in the crockpot
turkey on the grill ( we used to always make our thanksgiving turkey on the grill)
crepes (dessert & dinner)
can you make cobblers or crisps in a crockpot?
ice cream topped with warm fruit sauces..
Sorry you are going through this.

Oh, I have thought of some dessert ideas now. How about tiramisu? Or a trifle? Puddings and custards would work, too.
