I saw it too and thought that was kind of unnecessary. Not that it's not reality, but they don't show everyone's breasts they work on like that. I thought it was more for the point of showing them, IMHO.

As usual, another good episode. I'm so happy Abby's going back to med school. Good for her.

Next week's episode looks exciting.

Does anyone know if Carter's coming back?

I was surprised about the nudity, and DD was surprised it was allowed. Seemed unnecessary to me; there's lots of stuff that goes on in a real ER that they don't show. I'm guessing the Carter's coming back; he's still in the credits/teasers or whatever.

Being the sophisticated and refined creature I am, I shouted, "Look! Boobies!!" when I saw that scene.

In all seriousness, I felt it shouldn't've been a big deal. Hollywood spends way too much time training cameras upon breasts, cleavage and rear ends, cheapening the human body somehow. Those sorts of things DO offend me. Last night's scene was simply a statement of fact, and though I was surprised seeing it on network TV, I didn't find it inappropriate or offensive.

...and yes, I know for a fact that Carter will be back.

Phew! That's good news. I haven't been keeping track of Noah Wylie like I should, so I'm happy to hear that.

The bare chested thing didn't phase me at all. Didn't think twice about it until I saw this thread, so I guess I'm de-sensitized to boobies.

What really left an impression was the little girl lying on the bed with her dead grandmother -- the only one in the world who really cared for her -- and then being carried away by Neela, who I am starting to like. Now I've gotta go rent Bend it Like Beckham.

Just wanted to add that I will gladly endure more scenes like last night's in lieu of depictions of projectile vomiting and other assorted technicolor yawns. That graphic I don't need. :(

I saw it too and thought that was kind of unnecessary.

I think it was put in because, if you remember, the granddaughter started yelling "DNR! DNR!" thinking it had something to do with "being naked" -- she didn't know what it really meant, but it did alert the docs to not start life support, which lead to the scene of the her lying on the bed with her dead grandmother.

And I do agree with you, Gail --I will gladly endure more scenes like last night's in lieu of depictions of projectile vomiting and other assorted technicolor yawns.

Wow, I'm glad I don't watch this show! I think I'd completely lose it seeing a little girl lying with her dead grandma. I can barely stand reading about it! I want to just cry. I have become such an emotional wreck since I had kids.

On the other hand, I'm sure DH would've gotten a kick out of the boobies :D !

Yeah. DH and I were both about to cry. Luckily a commercial came back on and jogged us back into reality. That's the cool thing about ER. They have these emotionally heart-rendering scenes and then they balance it out with something totally silly like Dr. Pratt dancing to hip-hop with the receptionist or Jerry making fun of Abby's credit report. It's a roller coaster ride of a show.

I know lots of people who just refuse to watch it because they just don't need the extra turmoil in their living room for an hour each week. There are even a few episodes that I am forbidden to watch --mostly involving babies. It's definitely not a show for everybody.

Then you should be especially glad you didn't watch CSI last night. I cried through the whole thing.:(

Oh no. I'm planning to watch it when I get home. I taped it last night. I'll be sure to have the kleenex ready.

I had this on, but wasn't really watching, so missed all of it. I forgot the [i]Bend it like Beckham[/b] girl is on it now, right? Who does she play?

Also, what happened to Dr. What's his name's arm? The ******** Dr. that is always such an a$$? Now, I could be way off base, but at a glance I thought it was him about to learn how to use the prosthetic arm. I haven't really watched this in a while.

LOL! :D
I'm far from a prude...but I guess I just don't expect to see nudity on network TV. I think that's one place where they should draw the line.

The BILB girl (name?) is a med student. And Dr Romano (or as Dr Lewis referred to him-- "Little Stumpy") has most of his arm sheared off by a helicoptor tail rotor last year. It hasn't humbled him a bit, though.

I was surprised at the booby peek, but not too shocked, except that this was network TV!

What was more disturbing to me as a physician is that it appears their technical staff is slipping. Two orders were given by the doctors at different times for meds that were way out of the normal dose range, and potentially lethal on one, and definitely lethal on the other.

For the black lady with Crohn's disease who turned out to be looking for pain meds, Pratt ordered "one gram" of SoluMedrol - waytoo high a dose.

I can't remember which other patient, nor which doctor, but "30 grams" of morphine was ordered. That'd kill a whole farm of horses!

Ralph,

That's scary!! Guess I'm glad to be oblivious to the technical goofups. All that knowledge gets in the way of the melodrama. ;)

Also, doesn't it seem a bit far-fetched that he ordered 'obecalp' (placebo spelled backward) for a patient? Didn't he also have some doubt that the nurse in question spoke english, since all she ever said was 'yes, doctor' ??

Sounds sloppy/bad/dangerous medicine to me, but I guess it makes for good drama. :)

Ralph, that is surprising! I watched a special show on "The Making of ER" and they talked about how they had a doctor on set making sure everything was accurate. Guess it was his day off ;) .
