I just got a recipe from a friend for these insanely delicious Korean spicy cucumbers and they call for two spices I've never heard of and aren't Korean. The first one is called concrete(she got it in the regular grocery store made by Tone's) and the second is chemical seasoning(she didn't know what she did with this one because she made the dish so long ago). Has anyone heard of either of these? If so what are they and where can I get them? I have had an immense craving for these spicy hot cucumbers and am eager to make a batch!

Just wanted to move this to the top. I'm guessing no one has heard of either of these. Oh well maybe I can make them without concrete and chemical seasoning. So weird!

I guess first I'd see if your friend could send you the spices.

Then, I'd maybe take the recipe to an oriental grocery if you have one in the area and see if they have a clue. I know you said the spices aren't Korean, but if it's a Korean dish, maybe they'll have an idea. Or if you frequent a specific oriental restaurant and are real friendly with the staff, you might ask them. I've done both of these, trying to figure out what was in something and how to make it.
