Cooking Club in Metro Detroit Area

Is anyone else interested in starting a Cooking Club in the Metro Detroit area?? I think it would be a great way to try alot of new recipes and to meet new people!!

Hi Kelly,
I'm part of one that just met Sunday. There are people from different places in southern Metro Detroit: 2 from Plymouth, 1 from Farmington Hills, 2 from AA, 1 from Saline, one from Ypsilanti. There was even a few from the East side at Sunday's event (Hamtramck and Grosse Pointe). I can't tell you how we do our meetings because Sunday there were a lot of new people and only three from last year's group, so this year's group can pretty much decide how they want it to be. (A few people had to leave due to moving, more family time needed, etc.) We basically just told the hosts that when they host, they can decide how they would want it to be. There is a variety of ages: late 20s or early 30s to mid or late 40s. A variety of lifestyle situations: single w/ no kids, single w/ kids, married w/ kids and married w/ no kids.

Last year we did a strawberry theme, BBQ, soup, Asian and Tex Mex. We also made Chinese dumplings once, baked cookies once and followed a menu that CL suggested once. Everything is light, although it does not have to be from CL. We usually bring some of the dishes fully prepared, some almost complete and cook about one with the group. It all depends on the number of people coming: if less come, we can cook together more and vice versa.

We meet on the second Sunday in mid afternoon.

I have been looking for a cooking club in detroit and was very excited to find this site. I would love to be included in your cooking club. Currently, I am living in the metro detroit area.
