Hi-
I thought this group might know....just how far back do the Cooking LIght Annuals go? I'm in the process of trying to consolidate my years of magazines into years of cookbooks, and I know I've been subscribing since I was in grad school in the mid '80s.
Any help would be appreciated as I conduct my eBay hunt!;)
Thanks!
Anne

Hi Anne,
I believe the Annuals do go back into the 1980's however, the older ones don't have all of the recipes from the years issues. The first Annual that contained every recipe in the magazine for that year was the CL Annual Recipes 1997. That book contains all of the recipes for the year 1996. They have continued on since then with the latest being the 2003 Annual which contains the recipes from 2002.
Happy Shopping!

ARGH!! You're kidding! Only since '97??
Oh, well, the realistic chance of me going through all those magazines is vanishingly small, anyhow. I got 86-96 on ebay recently as a package (a good deal when you consider the original price!). Hopefully this will help me consolidate a bit. Now I'll focus on '97 - '03. :)
Thanks Peggy!

Has anyone seen the latest annual? I was looking for it at Costco last week with no luck. When do they come out?
Thanks!

anneg You might try ebay for older annuals -- that's where I found a lot of them awhile back.

Since it has all the recipes for the prior year, it can't come out until sometime in 2004. If you are looking for 2002 recipes, the 2003 annual has been out for a long time.

I think the annual does come out before the end of the year. CL already knows what recipes will be in the issues not out yet. I believe the issues are done months in advance.

My mistake...I just checked Amazon.com and it will be published in November. You can pre-order there if you want.

Try also Half.com, eBay's fixed-price venue. I've bought the annuals brand-new for a tremendous discount there.

I have CL cookbooks back to 1990, but you're right, only starting in 1997 did they include all the recipes from the magazines.

Just another vote for checking out Half.com. I've purchased three annuals through the site, all cheaper than I could find elsewhere online (although I did not check eBay).

Ok, one more question before I give my magazines from 85-95 the old heave-ho. Thanks for letting me know that the annuals before '97 don't contain all the recipes from that previous year's magazines. But do they contain any of the recipes? Or are the just all new recipes in addition to the ones that were published in the magazines (yes I know I could get the magazines out and look myself, but I'm being a bit lazy. ).
Thanks again for all the suggestions as to where to pick up previous years annuals. I got the 86-96 on eBay for a very good price. I just hope I havent added to my paper collection, rather than consolidating it!
Thanks!
Anne
