I have always said that I would rather hunt for the new issue of CL than wait for it to arrive. However, on Christmas my MIL gave me the December issue of CL and included a year subscription to CL, which was very thoughtful of her although, I did cringe at the thought of joining the unhappy subscribers waiting patiently and grumbling about the delays on the bb.
Well, to get on with this little story, my MIL called yesterday from Florida to thank me for the subscription. My husband took the call and I just figured that he must have understood until I received the bill for my MIL's subscription. Apparently there was a mix-up during the ordering process. So I guess I will pay for her subscription and continue on with my search for the latest issues!

Too funny!
So are you going to tell your MIL about the mixup?

Sneezles, It is a bit of a problem either way. First of all she is not much of a cook anymore and is a very petite woman who should eat more and gain a few pounds so I hope she did not feel insulted when she received this "gift". On the other hand she is a very kind woman who has always been very good to me and is now getting a little forgetful as she gets on in years. I really don't want to bring it to her attention that she may have goofed on the subscription card. What do you think?

Well, I wouldn't tell her either as it sounds like something my MIL would do! But at least you'll have your copy before a lot of us! Just don't rub it in too much! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif
Hi,
Bijoux22, I did enjoy your story about the mixup on the CL subscription.
Magazine subscriptions are funny things all right, and they do tend to confuse a person from time to time.
I have a Son-In-Law that likes a particular brand of a shooting magazine, and he has us pay for an annual subscription as part of his Christmas present each year, which we are happy to do.
One year we sent in the subscription renewal as usual and in January of the New Year the January issue of this magazine arrived at our house, this confused me, I thought we must have done something wrong on the gift subscription form, so we called our Son-In-Law, and yes he got his copy just fine.
Well, I wrote to the Magazine and told them about the error and asked them to stop the subscription. Well, in February I got it again, so I called the magazine to tell them about the error, but by this time I had read 2 copies of the magazine and could see why the Son-In-Law liked it so well. So I asked them to keep it up, but to send me a bill and I would pay it. the next month a new magazine and no bill.
About that time we were to go out to supper with some friends and I mentioned to him about how I'm getting this shooting Magazine and how much I enjoyed it. I told him about the mixup and how I'd have to call them again and ask for a bill again.
He said don't do that. And then he asked if I had gotten a gift card in the mail from the Magazine? We'll no, if I did I sure didn't remember it. Well, he said you should have, I sent in a gift subscription for you, so don't go paying`em again.
I've been getting the magazine ever since, and my Son-In-Law and I are both enjoying it.

bijoux22...no don't tell your MIL, instead tell her that "good minds think alike" and that you wanted her to see why you love this magazine and hope that she feels the encitement too. Who knows maybe she will get the bug and try a few recipes! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

Ed, loved your story. I guess subscriptions are a funny thing.
Mamasue, I am going to take your advice and not tell her. She knows that I love the magazine and use the recipes quite often and most likely thinks that I wanted to share a "favorite" thing with her.
