Emilycat - I vaguely remember you saying you liked italian restaurants and I was hoping you could help a friend and myself find a nice small italian restaurant in the Lenox area. We love maggiano's and fratelli di napoli but wanted to try something new. Thanks for all your great posts on this board - you have alot of great information. Heather

This is not emilycat, but there's one in Peachtree Battle shopping center that I heard was amazing.
Camille's is on N. Highland, but not far from Lenox. I think Camille's is awesome.
Also, Sotto Sotto is south on Highland, near midtown and is amazing. Very gourmet/authentic. Very loud though. It has another restaurant next door to it that is less expensive and has italian as well. It looks like a lot of fun, especially the outside seating.

I'm not from Atlanta (I live in SC) but several months ago I ate in a small Italian place called "Toni's" that was just wonderful. It's in a strip shopping area with a Harris Teeter near Tilly Mill Road (not exactly the Lenox area, I don't think, but close). I actually have directions to it if you're interested.

I knew there would be others that know the Lenox area and thought afterwards to not be so specific but thanks so much for answering my query. I'd love directions if you can post them. We were looking for a small (using the term loosely) hole in the wall kind of place. Thanks again to both of you!!!

Here are the directions my friend gave me -- we were driving on I-20 West into Atlanta, so that's the orientation of the directions. Hopefully you can adjust them based on where you live in the city:
1. I-20 to I-285 (Atlanta Bypass)
2. Go I-285 North (toward Greenville/Chattanooga)
3. Go about 15 miles -- you'll pass I-85 north
4. Take the North Peachtree Exit (next exit after Peachtree Industrial)
5. Turn Right on North Peachtree
6. After about 1.5 miles, you'll come to an intersection at Tilly Mill Road
7. Turn Left onto Tilly Mill
8. Go about 2 miles (you'll pass GA Perimter College on your left)
9. After about 2 miles, the road will fork -- take your RIGHT fork
10. Turn RIGHT at deadebd (onto Mt. Vernon)
11. After first light, you'll see a Harris Teeter on your left. "Toni's" is just to the right of the main entrance to the Harris Teeter.
Bringing this back up to the top as I'd also like to hear about more good atlanta italian restaurants! Thanks!

Heather,
I would definitely say Ciao Bella...it's on Pharr, right in the middle of Buckhead, and in my opinion, matches your description perfectly. I love it...it's so yummy, authentic (according to me http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif )and avoids that obnoxious snooty air so many of that area's restaurants carry.
I'm so glad you posted this...I'll be happy to get some new recommendations!

The north Peachtree exit is my exit-it is number 30, I think. They changed the numbers and I can never remember! Will check on the way home. Thanks for the info-I can't wait to check this restaurant out!

This proves (as if I needed proof)that I am obessed with the bb. Today is my birthday (omg-32!) and dh and I just got back from dinner and are about to go back out, but I told him to give me a few minutes so I can give my review on Pricci. Two thumbs up! Their marinara is perhaps the best I have ever had and the seafood was superb. We would definitely go back.

Susann,
Happy Birthday.
Just now got on the BB, and I know my Birthday wishes are late but they are sincere.
I hope you had a great day for your Birthday Celebration.

Hey all - thanks for all the great comments and Happy Birthday to Susann. My friend and I ended up going to the restaurant in the Peachtree Battle shopping center. I can't for the life of me remember the name of it - it began with an "A". Anyways, we both ordered fish because the pasta didn't look very interesting and the fish was very good - just not very *italian*. For all us wino's -we had a very good bottle of chardonay - Pine Ridge. Thanks again for your comments and I hope to try a couple more of the suggestions posted!!

Antica Posta in Buckhead is the best! Great Italian from the Tuscany region. The owner even let me tour the kitchen! It is on E. Paces Ferry right down the street from Hedgerose Heights. Expense but Awesome!!!!

iqueen,
Thanks for the review! I'd heard great things about this place -- now I'll make a point to go! By the way, have any of you been to Sotto Sotto?
Emily
Is Alfredo's the one on Cheshire Bridge??? I've heard that is great and authetic. I'd be interested to hear also of some casual italian spots that you all like, that aren't as big of a dining experience (and big $$$), but just a good bowl of pasta! Thanks!

Yes - Alfredo's is the one on Cheshire bridge. There's another one just around the corner from me - it's in the strip at the corner of Weiuca & Roswell Rd. I think it's called Marco's. It's really yummy & cheap. mmmm....

Sotto Sotto:
I love this place! It's kinda of expensive? Very gourmet and authentic. VERY loud.
They have a less expensive restaurant next door that I believe is also italian and less expensive. Maybe it has pizza?

Sotto Sotto is yummy, but my favorite is Alfredo's. The place looks very 60's or 70's from the outside - but the best food ever on the inside. Be prepared to have a long dinner. They're in no rush there, just as long as you know that going in.
