View Full Version : New Club - Boston/South of Boston
Hi,
I am extremely interested in joining a cooking club, and since I haven't had much luck finding an existing club, I just figured I would see if I could get a new one started.
I am 29, married, live in Quincy and work in Boston. I would love to meet some people who are interested in getting together and sharing a meal and forming some new friendships!
Please let me know if you are interested. You can either respond here or send me a PM.
Look forward to hearing from you!

I'm also interested! I'm 29, engaged, live in Stoughton and work in Boston, so I'm pretty close to all areas.

I'm intersted too! I'm 27, live in Quincy, and very recently married. Feel free to email me at sarah-burt@comcast.net.
Hope to hear from you soon!
So it seems that a club may be starting to form- yay! Let's wait and see if we are able to get any others who are interested- maybe we can shoot for an initial meeting after the holidays?

Hi everyone,
Wow! Looks like we have a lot of people interested now - that's great. One thing, that I probabaly should have thought about before I posted is that I live in an apartment and have a *very* small dining table. :( My apartment is big enough to entertain a number of people, but not if we all wanted to sit at the table. I don't know how that would work, but if it is a problem, I'll have to bow out of this thing (unfortunately)...
Sarah
I'm so excited this seems to be coming together! It looks like right now there are 6 of us- seems like a good number to me, but if we get anymore that should be ok too.
So why don't we try and get a date for an initial meeting- maybe at a restaurant so we can all just get acquainted and we can decide how this thing is going to work (i.e. how often and when we want to meet). I guess the next question is where and when is the best place to meet. I was thinking maybe the week of January 11th- I figure by then most of the holiday hoopla will be over and the food/drink hangovers should have run their cycle :D
I don't really have a day preference, but the time will depend on where we meet, if it is during the week- any suggestions??? I'm pretty much open to anything- it seems like quite a few of us are in the Quincy area so that might be convienent, but if it's during the week, I'm in Boston- not sure if anyone else is as well. I guess let's start with a date and then we can work out where and the time from there. Since that week is pretty open for me, I'll let someone else propose a day that works best from there and we'll see what we can come up with.
Sarah- I wouldn't worry about the table thing. I think this should be less about formailities (I have a tendency to snort when I laugh- add that to a glass of wine and all formalities have pretty much flown out the window :p ) and more about fun and good food.
Ok- I guess I'll just leave it open for someone to propose a date, or a different week if that one isn't good for you.
Hope everyone is surviving the snow! (I made a gigantic pot of chili and watched 3 movies) Gotta love New England!

Should we meet at the beginning of the week, so the restaurants aren't crowded? I'm available all week and would prefer to meet on the South Shore somewhere, but am flexible for Boston. Are we bringing significant others?
Thanks!

January 11th works for me! I figure Braintree or Quincy sounds like it would be somewhat in the middle. Maybe Rock Bottom or the new 99 at the SS Plaza? After the holidays it shouldn't be too crowded. Just an idea.

I'd be interested in joining as well. I'm 31 and live in South Boston.
I unavailable on Mondays but am otherwise free the week of the 11th.

Happy holidays!
Ok, let's see if we can get something finalized. I know it's kind of far ahead but with the holidays almost upon us, I'm sure no one will be checking this board, and then before you know it, that week will be here.
I guess the dates up for vote are Sunday, Jan 11th or Tuesday, Jan 13th. Once everyone gives their availability/preference for the day, the time should follow.
Jodi suggested Rock Bottom which is right by South Shore Plaza. Does this work for everyone? They have a fairly good selection of things to choose from, and the food is pretty good. If you've never been and want to check it out you can visit their website- www.rockbottom.com
Right now it looks like there are 8 people interested, which I think is a good number.
I will send this as an email tonight as well, just in case not everyone visits this board regularly.
I'm looking forward to meeting everyone!

Hi, my name is Laurie. If it's not too late, I would love to be part of the supper club. I have a large loft condo right next to South Station and would be more than happy to host the first dinner or first meeting to get to know each other. I noticed many of you work in Boston so I thought it might be convenient to meet in Boston after work. But either way...South Shore Plaza or Boston, I would love to be included. Let me know. Thanks. me too, me too!! :D
Hope it's not too late.. would love to join this new supper club if you have room.
I live in Roslindale and work downtown. Meeting in Boston after work is convenient for me, but I could also do south shore plaza. I am available Jan 13th.
I just turned 29 and am engaged. We bought our first house a few months ago and I can't wait to break in the new dining room.
I'm a decent cook and love to entertain; am looking to learn new recipes/techniques and improve my hostessing skills. Hope you still have room.
Let me know via email: cjaneg@yahoo.com.
Thanks!
Cara
I have received email responses from 5 of you regarding the choice of day. Everyone (plus me), but one person, voted for this Sunday, January 11.
So here is the plan--
What- New Boston/South of Boston Supper Club initial meeting (yay!)
When- Sunday, January 11th, 6:30 p.m.
Where- Rock Bottom Brewery, Braintree, MA - located outside South Shore Plaza in between Lord & Taylor and Macy's
Who- From the email responses I received this is who is coming
Cathy
Jodi
Kim
Janet
Kerri + Kerri's friend
Me
I guess if everyone can just confirm their attendance for this Sunday, I'll make a reservation later on this week. It's Sunday so we probably won't really need one, but if we are a larger party, maybe our table can at least be set up.
Looking forward to meeting everyone this weekend!
