Hi. Has anyone seen the new CL special edition on newstands? I saw it in my market today. It is called The Best of CL Part 2, with a slice of cheesecake on the cover. I did not buy it today. I will save it for when I am stck in an airport. It was $9.95. I am curious to hear if it anyone has read it yet.

Rustysmom -- Was there a typo in your post, or is it really $9.95? The Make It Ahead Supplement was only $3.99 (US). If this price is correct, is it considerably thicker than the MIA supplement? Hope so!

The first "The Best of CL" was $9.95 - I remember choking at the check out!!

Yes, the price is right. The first one was a great one which was like a soft covered cookbook....all recipes with pictures. The Make Ahead was more like a magazine with advertising. The first one was worth the $ and if number two is like number one well then it will be worth $10.00 too.....in my opinion. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif
I spotted this supplement at a newsstand yesterday and was going to buy it, until I realized that it is the Best of CL from the year 2000. So anyone who has all the issues or the annual from last year, already has all these recipes.
I think that's a bit of a rip-off. I was hoping it would cover several years. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/frown.gif

Thanks Julie for the heads up, I probably won't be buying it-especially since I found a hardcover 2000 annual for $12.00.

JJ40 -- I'm a little confused because of the way CL uses years on their annuals. Is this the best of the year 2000's magazines or the year 2000's annual cookbook (meaning 1999's magazines). I guess either way I will choose not to buy, since I have the 2000 and 2001 annuals. Although a picture for every recipe makes it tempting! (I will not buy another cookbook just yet...I will not buy another cookbook just yet...) http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif
BethR--I think it's all recipes from the year 2000. I only looked briefly, but that was my impression.

Does any know if I can still get the make ahead supplement? Everytime I was at the store I forgot to get it, and then this Sunday I finally remembered...and I couldn't find it. Anyone know?

Mandy -- The Make Ahead supplement says "Display until Jan 1, 2001" so probably not. Perhaps you could email or call CL and see if they'd sell you one directly? You might also try places like Amazon and eBay. Good luck.
