This is not food related! I noticed introduction thread a while back that there were several people who were gearing up for a leukemia society bike ride or marathon.
I am in training for the Santa Fe ride in May, is anyone else?
I thought maybe we could have a running post on training/fund raising (uggg) on the healthy living board?

Go FoodGirl!! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif
I finished El Tour de Tucson right before Thanksgiving and am signed up to mentor for Lake Tahoe this season (although about half of our mentors will prbably do Santa Fe as they have already done Tahoe. And a couple brave souls say they want to do both.)
Our coaches were incredible. The two main ones either did or do race professionally (one used to, the other still does). Please post here (or e-mail me) if you have any questions/concerns etc about anything.
Go team!
I'm pretty sure Natasha is a TNT alumni.

Foodgirl: I am a first-time marathoner- I just finished the Disney marathon in Orlando, Florida and loved it. I am currently beginning training to run a second! I did not, however, train through the Leukemia Society.
Good luck

Hi All!
I did The Dublin Marathon in October for TNT. It was a great experience and also my first. I moved a couple of months ago and am trying to find some volunteering opportunities through TNT to stay involved. I have decided that the half marathon is more my distance. I'm doing Covered Bridges Half Marathon in VT in June. Highly recommend this beautiful course over covered bridges in the quaint town of Woodstock, VT.

I can't believe this post!
My husband is in a band, and four years ago, his drummer and friend of 10 years, Marty, died from Leukemia. He was 24, an amazing guy, and an amazing friend. Despite the all the negativity he encountered, he never lost his positive attitude.
This year, a good friend of ours is running a Leukemia Society marathon (her first marathon) in Marty's honor. My husband's part will be taking pledges for her run at every show he plays.
I so proud of them both, and of all you who take part in such an important cause!
I am proud to say that I raised $3000 for the Leukemia Society in order to go and run the Bermuda marathon. I am not proud to say that I actually never ran the race due to medical issues. But at least the money went to a good cause. I do plan on doing a marathon in the future though!
