Got my latest King Arthur Flour catalog (a.k.a. The Bakers Catalog) in the mail yesterday. I've been lax in checking out their website.

I'm ready to order my silpats, and might even pop for their professional sheet pans, since my non-stick pans have seen their better days.

Anyway, I digress. In the catalog, I came across a Zyliss Herb Mill, which looks similar to those hand-crank cheese shredders (of which I adore mine).

I'm just curious - do these work? I'm not that handy with my chef's knife to be dicing parsley, cilantro, rosemary, etc. Oh I manage, but I certainly don't do as well as I could with them.

It's only $15.00, so it wouldn't be a huge loss if I bought it, but I'd like to get some feedback on here, if any of you have one, or have heard whether or not it's a good buy. Thanks!!!

I have a Zyliss chopper and love it. I can't imagine them making a bad product. I went up to the site and viewed the herb mill. It looked so great a bought it on the spot. Thanks for the posting.

Sandy, there was a topic posted on this a long time ago (summer?). Sorry I don't have time to search for you but just wanted to let you know I have a WS one and it's for the birds. I've tried it every way I know how, wet vs. dry herbs, you name it, and all it does it mash. I gave up!

I own the Zyliss herb mill and am sorry to say I don't like it. It is kind of flimsy and all the herbs get caught all over the plastic blade rather than churning out like you would expect. I was disappointed as I am always looking for a way to save time.

I owned the Zyliss once upon a time. Absolutely hated it. The easiest way to chop herbs is to snip them with kitchen scissors.

Hi- I am a big fan of Zyliss products EXCEPT the herb mill - mine never worked and it sits in the drawer. My chopper and spinner are great, but I also am not a proponent of the herb mill.

I have the herb mill and I agree with the others, I Hate it! It mashes the herbs. I now just snip the herbs.

I have to agree. I got one as a gift - the giver thinking it would be great for me since I grow so many herbs. They seem to get all caught up in the blades and it's a pain scraping them off. I'd go with the kitchen shears any day!

Wow. Thanks for the posting. I'll continue on with my fumbling with the chef's knife method.

On to the silpats...... http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif
