Big thumbs up on this recipe, both the sausage and the pizza. After eating a few bites, my husband actually said, "this is better than Pizza Hut." Which made me feel great -- considering this recipe is a ton lighter and healthier than Pizza Hut! I would make this sausage for use over pasta as well -- I just loved it. For the pizza, I made one change in that I used "french loaf" rather than pizza crust and made two separate pizzas rather than one big one. And, I added some Italian seasoning to the sausage. But other than that, I made very few changes to a great recipe. As an added bonus, it was a really easy after-work meal with a garden salad.

Our whole family really loved the Chicago-Style Pizza with the sausage recipe also. It was the best pizza I've ever made. That sausage was WONDERFUL! I did substitute with a Boboli crust. I will definitely make this again except I think I'd like to try cutting up fresh tomatoes rather than using the canned tomatoes next time.

I liked this, too, but i didn't have time to make the sausage - I was cooking for my fiance and his friend - both very hungry, so I just sauteed some hot turkey sausage. It was still good. and one piece was very filling!

What issue was the pizza in? Beth, your comment about your husband saying it was better than Pizza Hut sold me! I've tried to make many different kinds of pizzas, and my husband finally said, "You know... I would just rather eat Round Table. You just can't make it as good as they do". So... you have given me new hope!

Thanks!
Kim

It's in the latest issue -- the "man with a pan" section. I've already made it twice -- it's one of the best CL recipes!

Thanks Beth! I'll do my best to beat Round Table!

I made this using ground chicken and it still turned out good! This is a keeper. I may try putting roasted red peppers on it next time. Maushrooms sound good too. There is just so much you could do with this receipe.
