I have seen many favourable reviews for the Whiskey Pork Chops. My question is: how strong is the whiskey taste? Do you have to like whiskey to like this recipe?

(I would never drink whiskey, and am wondering if that means I wouldn't like this recipe).

Thanks!
Julie

I didn't find the flavor at all overwhelming
so I would tell you to try it. It's really more of a strogaunof (I'm sure that's not spelled right http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif ) type sauce so if you like that you'd probably like this.

The whiskey taste isn't strong at all since the alcohol is burned off. The sauce is like stroganoff as Sneezles said and very good.

I had the same fear when I tried the recipe, but you can't taste "whisky" at all. The alcohol does burn off and the taste really mellows since it does need to cook for a bit. The flavor is very good. I can hardly stomach the smell of whisky without wanting to get sick, but these pork chops were awesome.

I agree with the others. I am not a whiskey fan either but you really couldn't taste it! I got scared that mine would be really strong tasting but it wasn't. I also used a really cheap brand of whiskey, so don't think that you need to buy the best kind of whiskey they have. The cheap stuff works great!

I didn't tell anyone what was in it. They loved the taste and tried to figure out what it was. They never figured it out. When I told them they were amazed.

Just my .02 I made this last night and my DH gave it a 9. (Me too!) I had to tell him that there was whiskey in it. These are awesome. -KimD
