This was simple and tasty. Not the fanciest dessert, but we can't always eat fancy. Made in just one fry pan that goes in the oven and edible an hour after cooking.

Hi Joyce. Thanks for the review. I was just looking at this and thinking of trying it. Did you use the pears they specified or another kind? I always get confused about which kinds of fruit (ie apples,pears) are the best for baking.

I used some bartletts and put them in a brown paper bag a day ahead so they would soften up some. They were sizeable, so I could only fit two in a nine inch pan instead of the three called for. The cake does turn out exactly like the picture.

I am dying to try this recipe but do not own a cast iron skillet - any suggestions about what else I can put it in to bake?

i had posted the same concern, but I think I"ll just use a regular baking dish.
