That's amazing!! I never thought he'd be taken alive if he were ever caught at all. Hopefully this will turn the tide and allow the coalition to get the upper hand over the insurgents so that the Iraqis can finally build a peaceful society. Best news I've heard in a long time.

Bump! Wow - heard the news when I turned on the TV this morning. Couldn't believe it at first. Great news, wonder what this will do for President Bush's chances of reelection... Now lets hope our troops can come home soon and some kind of lasting peace can be restored in Iraq.

This is great news! I was a bit skeptical at 1st as I wondered if they caught the right guy and don't approve of us spending all of that $$$$$$ over there when we have so many issues at home. I'm not trying to ignite a debate, just my HO. My 36 year old nephew (a reinlisted father of 3) was sent to Baghdad last week and maybe things will be a bit easier over there and he and the rest of our troops can come home sooner.

Our priest announced this in church today and my jaw dropped!

Great news.

Isn't it odd to see him so bedraggled, looking like a vagrant and being checked for head lice? It just doesn't seem possible that he could have been the poweful leader of an evil regime not so long ago. I don't feel the need to muster up much compassion for the man, but it's strange to see him so humbled.

Hope this gives the troops over there a good boost in morale. I'm sure they could use it this time of year. :)

I agree! I say turn him over to the friends and relatives of the people he tortured and killed and let them have at him!

I have had reactions to this on several different levels: first, relief and joy that he has been found; shock that he was taken alive and without resistance; concern that there may be a terrorist backlash after I just put DH on a plan to Singapore -- where I read Al Quida had targeted Westerners in an attack that was apparently scuttled some time back. No matter what happens, I do think this is a big step in allowing the people of Iraq to stabalize a new government, and that is good for both of them and us.
