Anyone interested in starting a Cambridge MA club for grad students and young professionals?

I recently got married and moved to this area - my husband is going to grad school and I am working. There are so many great things to do in Cambridge, but I would rather experiment with cooking at home and enjoy good company than eat out. Anyone else?

Hi - I saw the post for the club in Cambridge, MA and am interested. I live near Davis Square. I am in my mid-thirties and I work for a nonprofit organization. I moved back up here about 2 years ago and I am interested in meeting new people, as well as cooking! Hopefully we can get more people interested in a group around here, I know it has been a while since your posting.

Thanks for writing back! I started to imagine that no one read Cooking Light in this area! Looking forward to attracting new members...

Hi,

I'm so glad to see your post! I have been wanting to gauge interest in a club in this area for awhile now but never got around to posting. I'm 28, married and live in Arlington. I work in public relations in downtown Boston. I love cooking, wine, and good conversation, which seems to be what supper clubs are all about! Hope we can get this one off the ground.

Hi!

Count me in! I'd also be really interested in joining the club. I am 25 and currently live in the North End. I also work downtown in public relations- with Sarah Williams. The idea of a supper club has come up over wine and recipe swapping many times, so it's great to find others with the same idea.

Well this is getting exciting!

There are four of us now...do we want to limit the group at around 5 or 6? I know that my apartment won't hold much more for dinner.

What do you think?

This is great!

I think 6 is probably a good "cap"; what does everyone else think? I couldn't host more than that either in my place. Plus, coordinating schedules could get difficult with more people. Just my two cents... :)

I'm excited!

I agree. I think 5 or 6 is a good target. Are we thinking of waiting to reach this goal, or do we want to get started with the four of us and figure that others will join us later?

Hmmm...

Maybe we should get the ball rolling... What about meeting for dinner sometime next week?

Is there still room for one more? I am 29 and live near Porter.

I think we should get started as well! I'm up for meeting anytime next week. Sounds like the Porter/Davis area would be convenient for all. This is fantastic...

Yeah! Now there are five of us! (Hello rigel!)

Next week sounds great. What day works best?

Any night next week, except Sunday and Tuesday would work for me. Probably Monday or Wednesday would be the best for me. As for a venue, what about Christopher's? It is easily accessible, wide variety of food, and reasonably priced.

Christopher's sounds like a perfect venue, and both Monday and Wednesday work for me, although my preference would be Monday.

Monday or Wednesday sounds good. Do we need to make a reservation?

Sorry!! For some reason I thought I would get an email when someone replied to my posting - now I logged on and see that we have a club going! If everyone doesn't mind, Wednesday, Jan 21 would be better for me, 7pm?. Christopher's sounds great! Michelle

Wednesday at 7 pm would work for me. I don't really think we need reservations-but if people would prefer having them, it wouldn't hurt to call in advance. BTW, Christopher's is across Mass Ave from the Porter Square T stop.

hi, my name is cecilie and i am very interested in joining this supper club. I love to cook, learn new recipes, and eat with friends. i recently moved here from northern california and my husband is in medical school leaving me lots of time to cook, but only me to eat it! My kitchen is good sized and I love to entertain in small groups. I would love to meet everyone at Christopher's on Wednesday night at 7. See you then! Cecilie
