I own the Cooking Light Mastercook
software. Yet this web site does
not offer recipes ( meaning the ones
that are already on this web site)to download!
I think this would be an excellent
idea.
I also buy the magazine every
single issue. So it's not like I
don't support the magazine.

Hi Tiggie,
You can get all of the recipes in a Mastercook format for downloading by paying the $7.00 fee that CookPac charges. I have found, however, that the recipes still need a little editing (especially if you have your own categories for your cookbooks). Of course, you could share the cost of the CookPac and then share the recipes. Just a thought.
Welcome! Just thought I'd let you know that this can be a wonderful site for information and that fresh ideas and "faces" are appreciated. Mind you, this comes from a paltry junior-member like yourself! Have a great weekend.

tiggie, you could copy the recipes and use the Import Assistant feature in MasterCook to add the recipes. I like the Cookpac recipes they need a bit of editing, but it's worth the trouble. I tried out the free version of Cookpac, however $7.00 is a bit too rich for me since I'm in Canada so it would probably cost me close to $10 CDN a month which is way too expensive.

we talked about this once before. I have teh CL software and pay 12.95 for the cookpacs. Why are the MC cookpacs cheaper??? I support the mag, too.

Laura, that certainly sounded bad "I thought Grace explained this before." Surely you didn't mean it the way it sounded. People ask questions that have been repeated on here before lots of times..I don't remember seeing/getting an answer to it or I wouldn't have asked.

I think this was just a simple misunderstanding. In this thread: http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/Forum1/HTML/003959.html Grace responded to your post commenting that you were paying $12.95 versus $6.98. I think you just didn't see Grace's response. It is tough to keep up with such a busy board!

I agree with that, Beth, but the verbiage was unnecessary IMO

Please be patient (and gentle) with us new members to the board.

If you are paying 12.95 then you must be having the disks mailed to you each month? It makes sense that that would cost more because they are actually mailing you a disk (which costs them money) instead of you just dowloading it directly.
Oh, and the Cookpacs you download work with BOTH Mastercook and the CL software that you use.

tiggie --
Just thought I'd post a link to some illustrated instructions on using the Import Assistant. These helped me tremendously. This page will probably take a little while to load -- it is graphics-intensive -- but it is worth the wait. One thing though -- I have stopped left-justifying text in the import assistant box like she advises in step 4. I find that Auto-fill can handle non-left-justified ingredient lists. And I always have to re-edit the directions once they've been autofilled anyway, so now I skip doing it in the Import Assistant box. Hope this helps!
Beth
oops -- guess the actual link would help! http://members.home.net/pam.e/UsingIA.htm
