Grace,

I just wanted to thank you for the wonderful berry galette recipe (posted under pot pie crust making me potty)! I made it last night with peaches and it was soooo good! The crust was so buttery and flaky and well, just plain super! I'm so happy that I have another round waiting for me in the freezer--I can't wait to make it again! When I pulled it out of the oven, my SO and I couldn't believe that I had made something so wonderful looking (and then we tasted it!)

Anyway, sorry to go on and on but we really did enjoy it and just wanted to say thanks for passing the recipe along!

ps..this recipe is NOT a light one but..who cares! Live a little! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

Beth,

I'm so glad you liked the recipe. For those of you who don't remember the post, it's not actually "my" recipe, but one I got from the Baking with Julia cookbook. But it's one of those (as Beth can now attest to!) that you make again and again and again! I'm so glad you had success with it, because I was like you the first time I made it - so excited at how it turned out, and they really are pretty easy! Do keep some of that dough around for when unexpected company comes - they will think you slaved all day! This board is so much fun! Enjoy that next one, and try it with berries sometime (if you like them). Grace

I just printed out your galette recipe. Can you use fat-free or light sour cream? Do you think this would be alot better with the reg. sour cream only?

Hi Tiger:

Yes, you can use fat free or light sour cream. You can also use fat free yogurt (plain, of course), or buttermilk. Any kind of "sour" dairy product. It's only purpose is to tenderize the dough, the fat doesn't really contribute anything since there's already plenty of butter in the dough! Good luck, and hope you like these! I saw this episode on Baking with Julia again a few days ago, and it made me want to make one soon! Post a review of how they came out and what you put inside...
