I am looking at purchasing a "good - all around" Weight Watcher cookbook. I have looked at different reviews of several on line, but am having a hard time deciding.

I know that it is difficult to purchase a cookbook that you will try every recipe. I am hoping to find a general one though that has many courses. Something like: appetizers, salads, veggies, main dishes, meatless dishes, pasta, desserts, etc.

And of course, the number of points would be a must!

:D

Thanks to all!

Hi, SweetTooth! I only own one WW cookbook - Make it in Minutes. I LOVE this cookbook! It gives points for each recipe along with recommended side dish ideas. The recipes are pretty simple are are divided into 15, 20 & 30 minute meals. I have made at least 10-12 recipes from it and all but 2 were repeaters... which I have made more than once since getting the book in September.

It doesn't really have desserts in it. It's pretty much set up based on breakfast, lunch and dinner meals.

I have read a lot of reviews on the Take out Tonight cookbook, but haven't purchased it myself. I am sure someone will chime in and let you know all about that one also.

Good luck!

thanks patsyk for your input. I did receive (and am considering returning) WW take out tonight for Christmas. I had asked for it on my list, but now after looking at it, I am not sure it is what I am looking for. It is broken down by cusine (sp?). Some is ok, but I just don't think I will use the thai, greek, sushi, & india recipes. This is 4 of the 8 chapters!

Happy New Year!

For an all around general cookbook I prefer WW Complete Cookbook. The annuals are really nice too with tons of recipes.

I have never particularly cared for the WW cookbooks. UNTIL....I bought Take Out Tonight!! I totally love it. EVERYTHING we've made from it has been really good. Even dh loves it! If he sees me looking through it and I ask him what he wants for dinner, he says he doesn't care if it's from "that" cookbook because it's always good.

Sweet Tooth I hope you give it a try especially since you already have it!

I have a lot of WW cookbooks aquired them a few years ago, so I don't have any of the new ones, but I really like the Simply the Best cookbook. There are a couple recipes that have become old standbys for me. As a matter of fact, I think I will have to revisit that cookbook for some new inspiration :D
I also got the Simply the Best Italian, because I liked the other one so much, but I was seriously disappointed. I don't think I made anything out of that one, so I wouldn't recommend that one.

Let us know which one you decide on and if you like it. I think my next cookbook purchase might be the Take out Tonight book- people have posted things that sound soooo good.

I only have WW Take Out Tonight. I made a few things from it when I first got the book, but things have been hectic lately, with the holidays, and I haven't made much from it lately. I plan on using it more after New Year, as part of Jeanne's cookbook challenge! Anyway, I have made about 5 recipes from TOT, and they were all excellent! I really love the Mexican section.

Sweet Tooth, You may want to give TOT a try before you take it back. Even though you may not like the other chapters, there may be enough recipes to try in the chapters you DO like.

(I think I'm inspired to go dig out my TOT now! :D )

I just noticed you are from NW Indiana, better known as the Region!! I grew up in Crown Point! Funny! I don't get back there much anymore, but my husband has made me promise that our next visit to my mom in Chicago coincides with Corn Fest- he doesn't believe that this is an actual event.

Didn't mean to hijack this post, just got a little excited for a moment.

I love the Weight Watchers Favorites, the old one which is made up of favorite recipes that are lightened up. I have several but always reach for that one.:)

I have several WW cookbooks - The WW Complete Cookbook, Take out Tonight, and I just got the Make it in Minutes one for Christmas and my favorite by a long shot is the Take out Tonight book. Everything I have made from it has been good and some have been fantastic! I haven't had time to use the Make it in Minutes book yet, so that may be a good one too.

I have bunches of WW cookbooks. Right now, my favorite is a new one called "In One Pot." As you'd think, it's all one pot dishes -- a few are crockpot recipes, but most are traditional in form, if not content. For example, there's an awesome (but very weird sounding recipe) we've just fallen in love with and have made about 3 times in the past month: chicken thighs, sweet potatoes and savoy cabbage stew. It is the *best* comfort food ever. Tonight, we're trying the Posole recipe from the same cookbook, trying to use up some Christmas ham.

I think this one is only available at meetings right now, but I got mine off eBay, since I'm an online only member.

I also second the recommendations for Take Out Tonight, and I find the "Complete" cookbook very handy for staple items like coleslaw or oven fries.

My only gripe with many of their cookbooks is that the indeces stink. They give you points, they give you title, they give you by their category, but they DON'T always give you an ingredient index. Since that's how I mainly cook (I have x, y, and z, what can I make?) the lack of ingredient indeces really annoys me.

I also have several WW cookbooks. Take Out Tonight is by far my favorite one, though. Simply The Best would run a close second.

Kim,
Glad to meet a fellow Hoosier on the bb. I am located in West Lafayette, IN about 10 minutes from Purdue.

Good to hear from you!

Ok, I have a lot of WW cookbooks, too! Of the newest cookbooks, I've really liked Take 5- (150 five ingredient recipes).
Of the older cookbooks, Six O'Clock Soutions and Simply the Best are favorites.

Also, I have enjoyed the recipes in the WW magazine, too.

I agree with the general consensus that the WW cookbooks
are not as good as the Cooking Light cookbooks. If I had
to choose a favorite all around one though, I would choose the
WW Complete. The rest of them tend to revolve around a theme.
I'm ashamed to say I have all of the ones mentioned here and
more WW cookbooks. SOOO, if anyone is ever looking for a WW
recipe, they should give me a holler!

Cindy---me too! I own all the magazine ones that you get from meetings. I love the slow cooker one (In Good Time), and Two's Company. I actually love them all! LOL.
