avatar problems?

I tried to change my avatar yesterday and kept getting just the little box with a red 'x'. I finally found an avatar that worked (same site, same link process) :rolleyes:

Today, I'm noticing that A LOT of people have just the little box with the red x.

So are you having problems with your avatar?

Mine seems to be working. I did have lots of trouble getting it there in the first place and remember feeling relief when I finally got it to work.

I have compuserve as my ISP & am convinced there is the problem. I can't even vote in polls. cvan't change my avatar. in fact I could not even get an avatar when using compuserve but used MSN to do that. but it's inconvenient to use MSN all the time.

i imported [or thaght i had] an avatar from my computer. but to no avail.

how do i resovle this? i'd like to have my rresponses show my avatar.

You can't use an avatar stored on your computer (regardless of what CL says...it doesn't work). You either need to put it on a web page somewhere (a lot of people use imagestation) or find one on a web page that is the right size (less than 50x50)

If it's just a small gif already in your own files, I would just upload it to gifworks, since that will work, and then right click on the gif to get the properties. Copy the address, then enter that as the web address for your avatar gif.

a lot easier than going through imagestation, IMO

Where's a good place to get avatars that fit? Everything I tried was too big.

Its hit or miss. I used this site (http://www.gifs.net/animate/animate.htm) to find my yellow rose. If you google animated gifs a large list will come up for you to choose from.

Have fun looking for the right sized gif.

I checked "other" because my custom avatar is working, but when I try to change it I get this message:

ADMINISTRATOR: You MUST revert your modifyoptions template.

I can't figure out what it's talking about. :( :confused:

Any ideas??

musicmom, i keep getting the same message. i don't know what in the sam hill that means! i've tried looking through all the options(modify profile, etc.)and can't figure that out!
anyone out there that can help us? i found a really cute avatar i want to use!
