I'm making the Tex Mex Black Bean Dip today and was wondering if the spices, etc are good the way the recipe's written or whether you guys spice it up on your own?

I make it pretty much as written and it is a big hit in Dallas! I serve it with homemade baked tortilla chips. Enjoy!

try it just the way it's written. It's one of my favorites.

It's one of my favorites as written...Oh, I add lots more cheese though and even lime. It's one of those where exact amounts don't matter, but you probably know that!

I've made it once as written, and I thought it was great. I think it would also be great spiced up (like using medium or hot salsa or adding some hot sauce) if you like spicy (which we do -- but I was making it for a party).

Using black beans with jalapenos kicks it up a notch without making it overly hot.

I did make this recipe the way it was written and we really liked it! We actually didn't serve it as a dip at the Superbowl party because we ended up having so much food, so I heated it up the next day and made it a filling for burritos. Yummy!!
