I've posted before to try and get a supper club going here . . is it possible to exchange emails so that we can see if we can't get something going? (J'ai besoin de la pratique en français - mon professeur de français m'a encourager de faire des activités en français, et mon copain est francophone!) . . .

I'm interested as well!
My french is not great however, but I would be keen to practice. I live in the Alta Vista area in Ottawa.

I'm interested in joining... have you got things rolling? I'm in Stittsville but don't mind a bit of a drive. I can speak French but need to get the rust out.

Welcome! Things are just getting started. We had our initial planning meeting this past Saturday, and our first cooking session will be this Saturday, March 6. We plan to meet regularly, on the first Saturday of each month. I will e-mail you or send you a private message with more info.

Interested in joining us? Our supper club is going smoothly, and we've had quite a great response to our postings. If you're curious, here's how we work.
Our club is bilingual, with French- and English-speakers welcome. We like to limit the size to no more than eight members, to keep it manageable. When we meet, it's just us members; our spouses, families, and SO's are on their own for supper. This is our brand of girls' night out.
We try to have meetings about once a month, usually on a Sunday evening. Each month, a different member is responsible for hosting the event. This means she plans the menu (using Cooking Light recipes) and sends it out two weeks ahead of time. She buys the groceries, and maybe a bottle or two of moderately priced wine. Then we all meet at her place at the designated time and cook a fabulous meal together--and then we eat it, of course! Sometimes not all the members can make it, but there is the potential to have as many as eight people together at once, so it really helps to have a place to hold that many people.
Our members are scattered throughout the greater Ottawa/Outaouais region, living everywhere from Stittsville to Orleans on the Ontario side of the river, and in Hull and Aylmer on the Quebec side. Thus, it really helps to have access to transportation or to live near another member where you can work out carpooling arrangements easily.
We have a great group of members, and we all really enjoy the experience of getting together each month. If you're interested in joining us, post a reply here or send me a private message. We'd love to hear from you!

Just wanted to bump this thread - still have an opening -
Had a lovely meal last night with the following menu:
• Beef Curry with Toasted Spices (CL, September 2003)
• Saffron Basmati Rice (CL, September 2003)
• Curried Cauliflower (CL, September 2003)
• Raita (Indian Yogurt and Cucumber Condiment) (CL, September 2003)
• Tomato, Lime and Onion Salad (CL, September 2003 )
• Mango and Mint Chutney (CL, September 2003
• Stuffed Zucchini with Potatoes and Peas (CL, April 2003)
• Indian Bread Pudding with Cardamom Sauce (CL, November 2002)
Everything was quite good - the mango chutney was the star of the show, I think. The tomato, lime, and onion salad played the smallest role.

Is there still room in the Ottawa Supper Club? This is something I think would be alot of fun - I just discovered this thread!
I don' speak French, though...I hope that is OK. I live in Limoges.

Welcome to the boards! We do still have space in our Ottawa supper club. Our next meeting is Sunday. If you're interested, maybe we should try to talk on Friday (tomorrow). Send me a PM with info on how to contact you and I can answer any questions you might have.
Hi it's Liz - my hard drive died a few weeks ago, and I have lost all my contact info... so I thought I'd try the bb. Can you drop me a line? I will use my work email for now until we're back up and running at home. Thx.
