View Full Version : Stove Top Espresso Maker -- How Much Coffee Do I Use?

I just bought a small stove top espresso maker. It serves 4 so it makes 4 oz. The instructions that came with it were translated from Italian so they don't state how much coffee to use. If I grind it to a medium coarse grind, how many tablespoons should I use for 4 oz?
Thanks for any help!

If it is the kind with a base, an insert for the coffee and then the top, you completely fill the insert with coffee. I used that pot for years and never measured the coffee.

You fill the base with water, put in the filled insert and then screw on the top. Heat until all the water is in the top.

Indeed it is the kind with a base. Thanks a million! I've been anxiously awaiting my first cup of Emilie made espresso.
