Last week my mom and I made our annual excursion to the Penzey's store in Norwalk. Well, I must have gotten delirious from smelling all those spice jars because not only did I purchase just about every darn spice in the store, but I also shelled out close to $40 for the Zassenhaus Pepper mill! Now, I need another pepper mill like I need another hole in my head, so I don't know what compelled me to buy it, but you know what? I have no regrets! The thing works like a charm and sits near my cooktop ready for action at all times. It also helped spark my interest in cooking again, which has been on the decline for several months. Nothing like a new kitchen gadget to improve the spirits in the kitchen! Just thought you foodies would understand!

So true! I just placed an order with King Arthur Flour and was babbling on about how excited I was. DH asked "what did you order that has you so excited?" A jellyroll pan and a flexible spatula! Wheeee! It was enough to get me excited, but I think he was pretty bewildered. :D Good thing I didn't tell him I also ordered oat bran and dried buttermilk.
Happy pepper grinding!

Hi Leslie,
I'm planning a road trip to the Norwalk store in a few weeks. I wished it were closer. I made my list last night, of coarse it's longer than I thought it would be.
Glad you like your new pepper mill.

I love this mill...my Mom and Dad got us one for Christmas (plus a bunch of pepper) I love that it grinds it so there are no big chunks of pepper in my dinner!!!
I went to the store in St. Louis with my Mom during Christmas vacation and had a blast (and no regrets:D )

I love that peppermill but wish it had a matching salt mill. I need both and need to decide if I can go with a non-matching set.

I cannot wait! After drooling over the smaller version of the Zassenhaus Peppermill I almost bought one until SandyM offered to sell me hers that she doesn't use. I'm so excited! All this over a Peppermill, we are indeed foodies.

Since I have heard so many great things about Penzey's, I am going to venture out to Norwalk maybe this weekend, or a few weekends from now when I am back in NY! I can't wait. I predict: blowing a wad on spices!:D
Has anyone gone to Harney & Sons tea tasting room? I spend a ton there to, but never regret the quality of the tea. :) The best thing about being there is you get to try before you buy!
