Sounds good!

Around the holidays Regis and Kelly had a woman on their show who had written a book titled Flirtini - a whole book of really different and yummy sounding cocktails. I am guessing this recipe came from that book?

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I'm having a couples valentines day dessert party. I just bought a set of red martini glasses (Pottery Barn -- 6 on sale for $8 - wahoo) and a bar mixer set (also Pottery Barn -- a case with all the tools -- reduced from $100 to $25). I was trying to come up with a sweet martini drink to go with it! This is perfect. I even have raspberry vodka (from a favorite summer drink -- raspberry vodka with lemonade).

This recipe looks perfect! I just want to make sure ... this serves 6, right?

Since I'll need more glasses, do you think I could get away with champagne flutes as well?

Thanks,
Tracy

Flirtini's are amazing - I've had them at the place of origin, Guastivino's in NYC - the drink was also on sex and the city....they're DELICIOUS, although the originals dont have lime juice, but simple sugar syrup..make sure you eat the raspberries last- they get infused with all the champagne and liquor and are fantatstic.

Schuh, I think this recipe is for one....45 mls total booze is an ounce and half.. a few splashes and squeezes, plus a 1-ounce top of champagne, will make a 4-ounce cocktail.

I think they would be gorgeous in champagne flutes, though!

duh ... I have no idea how a ml compares to an ounce! I should've paid more attention in those math classes in grade school, when we were learning metric. Remember when the U.S. was going to go metric with the rest of the world?

I'm going to have to figure out how to convert these to make several at a time... Maybe I'll have to do some sampling in the process! I'm ready to tackle this process!

I think that 30 mls is close enough to an ounce to call it an ounce.
Likewise, 15 mls is close enough to be a half ounce.

So I would just maybe make 3 at a time (more than that, and you don't have room in the cocktail shaker. Add 3 ounces, vodka, 1.5 ounces Cointreau, juice of half a lime, 3 tablespoons of Pineapple juice, and shake on ice. Strain over berries in glasses, then top with champagne.

You could make up a big pitcher, just multiplying accordingly, but then you wouldn't get to use a cocktail shaker. And what fun is that?

Also, I have found that the lure of the cocktail shaker is irresistable to many people, especially to males. If you put the stuff out with a recipe card, I bet you could co-opt a guest into making cocktails while you worry about the rest of the party.

Regardless of the option you pick, I am in TOTAL agreement that sampling is required. ;)

I got the last red ones in the store near us. They are really cute.

jphilg, thanks for the tip. Maybe I will leave out all the bar stuff. In the case, it looks pretty cool.

Sorry I forgot about the serving size. I went back and checked and it states "serves 2". Here is the site I got it from click here (http://aww.ninemsn.com.au/aww/recipes/db/FreshTV/53/5325.asp) . This site is one set up by an Australian magazine called Australian Women's Weekly (but it is a monthly magazine). They have some great recipes but if you use them don't forget that measurements such as cups and tablespoons are slightly different that US measurements.

Yes, but it might be serving 2 who only like a half full glass. Me, I'm a "fill-it-to-the-brim" kind of girl, so I will join you as a ulhs, hic - oops, sorry I meant lshu, hic make that a LUSH. :D

I tried these at a friend's house (we pooled our liquor to do so).
They were not as good as I imagined them to be. The sparkling wine overwhelmed the other flavors.

My friend provided Cook's Extra Dry for this, which I find to be nasty without anything added (I generally don't like any of the "extra dry" sparking wines.) It was kind of tart tasting.

What sparkling wine do you suggest? I think it needs something a little lighter and/or a little sweeter.
