The house is so fragrant but should I add garlic? I am such a garlic addict, it seems wrong not to add it to this recipe... here goes...

Slow Cooker Mixed Mushrooms and Pork Stew
1 lb sliced mixed mushrooms
1 lb pork shoulder cut in 2" pieces, *I cut out all of the fatty pieces
1 large red or yellow pepper, cut into 2" pieces
1 medium onion cut into 1" pieces
1 t salt
1/4 t ground black pepper
1/2 t thyme, crushed
1/2 c dry white wine or water
4 t cornstarch

Place mushrooms in cooker* I Pammed it first.
Stir in ingredient to include white wine. Cover and cook 8 - 10 hours on low. Turn on high heat. In a small bowl add cornstarch and 2 T water. Mix and add to stew. Cook 5 to 8 minutes until sauce is clear and thickened. Sprinkle and top with chopped parsley; serve over noodles, if desired.

* I know the fat and calorie count are lower with cutting out the fatty pieces of pork shoulder.

Should I add garlic???? TIA

Susan,

Sounds great...and I would add garlic:D (As I continue to still taste the garlic from the egg burritos we had for breakfast:D )

Got any roasted garlic? If not I would add some garlic too! I made etouffee last night and couldn't believe it did not call for garlic but I added some anyway. Sometimes I use the roasted so it's a bit more subtle. I keep it frozen so it's ready anytime! :p

and glad I added the garlic. Not too much but I think the roasted garlic is a wonderful idea! Thanks Sneezles. We have a snow day today, no school, so I just may roast some this morning before I go out to shovel!
Gail Is it a formal recipe for egg burritos with garlic? Please share, we love garlic, also!

Hey Susan...gotta love those snow days...it's snowing and 12 degrees in my hometown...gonna be 80 here in South Florida today...Bryan doesn't miss that shoveling:cool:

Glad your meal turned out great! If I can find some nice pork, I'm gonna give it a try....want to make some new slow cooker recipes...I bought a new cooker from QVC last week...with a timer:D Can I substitute any other form of pork?

(WOW...watching the news...the Queen Mary II just docked in Ft. Lauderdale...she's awesome!!)

The egg burritos are my own creation...I used the LA Tortilla brand tortillas I found recommended on this board...they're low carb, and really good...used garlic & herb flavor...then just scrambled up some Omega-3 eggs, and added organic chedder, and salsa...it was my first breakfast from the new kitchen:D
