Just trying to get an idea of what y'all want for formating...

I would love to have an online version and a print version, though I don't have any real preference for the type of print version.

Edited to clarify: the first option is fine with me- I don't mind printing out my own copy and putting it in a binder.

Both online and print would be great, but I don't have a true preference. I would just like to have all the favorites in one place.

JeAnne - If you need any help, please let me know.

well cost for everyone is a consideration I just wanted everyone to keep in mind. Adobe will be the cheapest. A spiral bound cookbook typeset the most expensive (but not as expensive as the pretty color ones we all buy :D )

As a Person Across a National Border, I am firmly in favour of Acrobat! Less of a pain all round, especially behind...

and by the way, JeAnne, you rock for doing this.

I'm sorry, I like spiral bound cookbooks. They're the best. yes, I know they're expensive, but I was trying to keep cost at the back of my mind. I'd really like the spiral bound version, but will accept any version because I know the recipes will be awesome!

Thanks JeAnne! You're the best!

I'll say whatever is easiest to compile and publish, so I guess in pdf form, and then I can just print as needed.

I'll be happy to help, if I can in any way.

I voted for Adobe. I was thinking that not only would it be cheapest, but it would also be easiest for posting updated versions with new recipes. That way, maybe every 6 months to a year, we could have a CL Community Cookbook update, and members with previous versions could just print out the new pages, and new members could print the whole thing. It would be great since I seriously doubt that we will stop producing great recipes any time soon! :D

Great idea regarding updates Rebecca!

I vote for Adobe Version too! :)

I think the Adobe version would be great.

For those who would prefer it bound, they could take it to Kinko's and pay for it themselves.

I think all the ideas for the Adobe version make so much sense - its very cheap for anyone who can't afford a prettier version, its easily adaptable and update-able, and you can print it if you want or just look at it online or whatever.

Adobe Acrobat...it's available to everyone in that format. I agree with the comments that if someone really wants it bound, they could head to Kinko's. I love the idea of the periodic updates!!

ooh! How exciting!! :D I vote Adobe also. The idea of updates is great. Also we can pick and choose more toward our own liking to keep what we want in print.
Thanks for the initiative JeAnne!

I voted for Adobe as well. That way we can print our own versions and either store them in a binder with the plastic page protectors or have them spiral-bound on our own. It will keep costs down and cut down on some of the labor of putting the collection together.

Thanks JeAnne!

Is there a way that we could make a version that is downloadable to mastercook like the old cookpacs many of us used to buy? I would much rather have that than an adobe file.

And, if we don't do that, no biggie. I can always make my own by hunting and gathering all of the recipes from the BB!

well i personally cant do that because I don't have that software and I'm not planning to buy any new software. However it will be created in word first and that's uploadable/exportable to mastercook right?

I voted for the Adobe. I am lucky enough to have a binding machine at home or I can put it into a 3 ring binder - this way is I just spill something on it I can just re-print a single page.

Thank you so much for putting in all of this work. Let us know if we can help you in any way.

JeAnne, that's fine! The word document can be uploaded after tweaking is done to the recipes to get them into the right format. I posted before reading the responses, and it seems that people really like the adobe idea. I'll participate in whatever is the majority decision. :D

JeAnne and others, Adobe Reader is free software available at www.adobe.com. It's useful because it's supposed to run on nearly any type hardware (PC or Mac) and on most operating systems. With files in .pdf format (the files that can be read by Acrobat Reader), it won't matter if you're using Word (any version), WordPerfect, Works, or anything else. I think it's more or less universal. The FREE part makes it that much more appealing.

Right...that's why I would do it in adobe. However, I'm just not sure you can export from adobe into mastercook...I would think not, without having the adobe creator which is not free.

I agree with the no matter what form it is in, I am getting it person! If I had to pick, the cheap way would be nice :) but the other way would be pretty, so once again, whatever is fine with me!

I voted for hard copy. I think this book will make a nice addition to my cookbook collection, and something that will last forever. I could see my kids looking through this later and seeing one of my recipes, or a friends recipe listed. JMO.

JeAnne - kudos again for all your work!
