I received the offer for the Southern Living Homestyle Cooking yesterday. The cake on the cover looks amazing. Has anyone made it? If so,I'd like a review please. I need to know that it tastes as good as it looks. I know that it probably isn't a light recipe, but we all can afford to splurge every now and again. :D

Well I'm sure you knew this was coming... :D

Can anyone with the book post the recipe? It looks divine. I wonder what is the vanilla layer?

Thanks for the recipe cedeetee. One bite of that will add a extra 'ripple' or two to my arse I know that.

Actually thought, I bet that could be easily lightened.

I just got home and checked out the posted recipe. My book shows 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened. For the nuts I have "3/4 cups chopped pecans or walnuts, toasted."

man the order of those ingredients is totally mixed up.

and does the frosting call for 1 1/3 cups cocoa or 1 1/2? it says one thing in the directions and something else in the ingredients.

NOTES : A sweet cream cheese layer bakes atop these fudgy cake layers; then when you assemble, frost and serve the cake , the cream cheese appears as swirly ripples in each slice.

Yorkshire and Little Bo Peep,
You're making me feel bad about the ripple expansion on the arse, I was more concerned about the doughnut around the area where my waist should be.

When I cut and pasted the recipe from SL BB, no one had reviewed it yet, but I thank lonetree for correcting it. Who ever makes please let me know if it's as good as it looks, maybe I'll make it for my mom's birthday next week. That way I can get rid of it. I can't make that cake without an occassion. Otherwise, that whole thing would be sitting here looking at me and calling me each time I walk by. Kinda like that Edward's Cheesecake commercial. I only need a couple of slices, the whole thing here could cause a lot of damage.

Against the wishes of my waistline and my would-be abs...I made the cake for my mom's birthday. It was delicious. I just wish that the ripple was as big as the one in the picture.

I left the cake with her, so my waistline maybe a bit more thankful for that.

You should try it soon....
