I was thinking of taking my Japanese student to see this. Has anyone seen it?
She is very sensitive to violence etc and this looked like a safe bet. Just thought I'd check here first.
I would love to watch "Lost in Translation" with her but it is always out at the video store. I love that movie!

Hey Maureen!

I would highly recommend this movie! It was different, beautiful, moving and touching all at the same time. Even though you'll need to bring tissues, you leave the theatre feeling really good about 'people'.

Let us know if you go to see it! I loved it!

This is one of the best movies that I have ever seen.
However, there is a part that appears to be gearing up to be violent, but it turns out not to be. I was getting nervous as I watched that part, but was VERY relieved when nothing happened.

Your opinions certainly back up all the rave reviews I have read about this movie.

I have decided I don't want to see this movie with Rio. I know I would spend the whole time worrying about her understanding it!:)

Think we will stick to a video so we can pause and explain as we go along!
Thanks though- I can't wait to see it!

How long are you having an exchange student? We hosted a student from Japan for a weekend last year. It was so great!

We rented a movie when she was with us. What we did was rent a Japanese movie. She could understand the dialogue and we read the subtitles.

Her English was not good at all but we still had fun. I was very impressed by her bravery...I would be so scared to go by myself and live with people who did not speak my language.

I posted a rsponse but it isn't here so I'll try again.
My student is here for two weeks. It is a home stay/tutoring program.
I tutor her three hours a day (but I do way more than this!!!:) )

It's intensive and much as I enjoy it I am always happy to get my house back to myself and my family.
I was able to rent "Lost in Translation" tonight so we'll watch it instead.
Oh yes, Rio speaks excellent English!
