I just found this website and was wondering if you think the pricing is reasonable or not. I know that when I go to the Farmer's Market I spend around $20.00 a week and I don't think that I get as much...

Westside Organics (http://www.westsideorganics.com/home/1_includes/details.php?box=standard)

I'm thinking I might try it for a few weeks....

It sounds more than reasonable to me, especially for organic produce delivered to your door. I would go for it!

I would love to have produce delivered, but I'm pretty sure that it would go to waste. I have a hard enough time making menus when I pick the veggies. I think I would panic at trying to make those decisions at the last minute.

I agree with Eva. I think that's a lot of organic produce for little $$, especially if they're delivering it.

Too bad they're not closer to me! :)

This may be a dumb  comment, but as a sidenote, you may want to make sure they are certified organic. I have a friend who's a farming inspector, and he advised me to check into it when I was signing up for an organic foods co-op. They were, and I was very pleased with getting the veggies. :p

I wish there was one in my area! I think you should go for it, Tyra, as long as it's certified.

Just make sure you still come by the farmer's market come summer. ;)

Not to worry Meg. I'll still be at the Farmer's market. Alex is addicted to the Ventana strawberries somebody from Oxnard brings up :) And I'll need to stop by your stand and say hi to your Dad (and you if you come to Danville instead of Pleasanton) ;)

Yep, the strawberries have been there for the past month...$10.00 for a 3-pack. Can't wait for the prices to come DOWN a little

I decided to sign up for bi-weekly delivery. First delivery will be on Thursday (which works great for menu planning :) ) Will post back on the contents and quality...

Hi Tyra,

We've been getting weekly deliveries from Westside Organics for about a year and a half now, and we've been happy with the service and the produce. One fun benefit has been the opportunity to try unusual items that I probably wouldn't have picked on my own ~ the most recent was sunchokes, which turned out to be quite yummy! We're in Fremont, so our deliveries are on Fridays (I'm actually expecting them to show up any time now). Hope you enjoy your first box!

I get organic produce delivered every other week from a local group called Ahwatukee Produce. I pay about $80. + $10. delivery but I get app. 80 pounds of produce. It averages about $1/pound and is all certified organic (although not all locally grown). Yes, it sounds like a lot but believe it or not, we eat it all and I love trying all the different things. We make it last the two weeks by eating the more perishable things first and it seems to work. I can't wait for my delivery tomorrow a.m.!

Ah, but they do, check out CSA (http://www.nal.usda.gov/afsic/csa/) s (community supported agriculture) in your area. Right at the top of that pgae they have a link where you can search state by state. There are several that deliver to Chicago and it's 'burbs. I belonged to one when I was in Denver and loved the variety, supporting my local farmers and eating things that were in season.

Tyra, definitely go for it. They deliver to where I'll be living in May. so I'll be looking back to see what you think of them, although it already seems like Robin enjoys them :)

What a terrific deal :D I got Braeburn Apples (4 ct), 1 Haas Avocado, 2 lbs bananas, 1 Kent Mango, 4 Navel Oranges, 4 Bosc Pears, 1 bunch broccoli, 1 bunch carrots, 1 head greenleaf lettuce, 5 lbs russet potatoes, 1 bunch spinach and a smaill container of grape tomatoes for my $29.00. Quality looks great...came with some recipes as well.

If you live in the SF Bay Area...I would go ahead and order from them.

Wow, that sounds great Tyra! Quite a variety. I wish there was something like that around here; there is a CSA but it's one where you have to pick up your box, which just isn't feasible for me at the moment. I hope you enjoy all your veggies and fruit, and all of the spring ones to come. :)

sunberst, may I reccommend Angelic Organics (http://www.angelic-organics.com)? They don't deliver to your door, but have weekly deliveries to various sites in Chicago and the burbs. There was an article about them in the Sun-Times a year or so ago. I believe Charlie Trotter gets some of his stuff from them. Plus, I'm from that area, so I've got to give props. :)

I just went to Safeway.com and priced the produce I received...my $29.00 box would have cost me $34.41. I saved money and it was delivered...how cool is that :D
