Hi,
I think it would be great to have a supper club in the downtown area, but I would certainly be willing to include a larger area. I am a nurse, middle 50's, single.

Hi, I'd be interested in joining a supper club. I live on the northside of Chicago - not too far from downtown. I'm single, mid-50's and I really love to cook.

We only need a few more cooks, and we are in business!

How do the SC's work? I'm on the NW side of the city, am new to this site, but am interested in a SC. Thanks.

Usually a small group (3-8) meet once a month at a member's home. Meals are either prepared together or prepared prior to the meeting and then shared with the others. My daughter is in a group that uses Cooking Light recipes. The menu is coordinated, and the hostess usually provides the main course. Anything will work.

I'm interested in joining too. I'm early forties, single and live on the north side.

I guess the next step is to meetand discuss plans for the supper club. Other clubs have had the first planning meeting at a restaurant or coffee shop. Does anyone have a suggestion? I live 1800 S. Dearborn, but we do not necessarily have to meet in my neighborhood. A Thursday evening would be good for me, but I am flexible.

Thursday evening would work for me. I live mid-north, but I have a car.

That would be terrific for me, but only starting in mid-May since I have class on Thursday nights.

I live in Hyde Park and can host a group.

I can do Thursday evenings.

I hit the "new thread" button by mistake.
In my earlier post I suggested that we meet on a Thursday to get the ball rolling. Is there another day that we could all get together? Remember that this is a planning meeting and not the actual day we will meet for the Supper Club. Many of the groups meet on Saturday or Sunday so they have time to prepare the food. Has anyone thought of a central place to meet?

There is a Panera Bread at 2070 N. Clybourn (Clybourn near Armitage). I suggest it because it has parking and is fairly easy to get to. What do you think?

I can meet on a Thursday evening too. Should we try and pick a date?

Panera sounds good but Thursday is not good for me.

If it's evening, I can meet Monday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

A Saturday or Sunday would be ok for me. Morning, afternoon, evening?

How about meeting next Sunday (4-4-04) at Pandera at 5PM?

I can do that; I might be a little late, though.

I can't make this Sunday at 5. Is there any way we can do another day? Or before 2PM?

I'm pretty flexible this Sunday. Noon would be ok.

Sorry to be a party pooper, but that doesn't do it for me; I work from noon 'til 4pm on Sundays.

Monday evening?

Let's do it! I'm in for a downtown Chicago supper club. Has a date been decided yet to plan it? It looks like many have discussed this Sunday, 4/4, and that is good for me (probably, depending on the time). Early is better for me since I have afternoon /evening plans (not sure of the times yet)

Thanks.

Seems that most of us are able to meet this Sunday, so maybe we should set the date. Sunday, April 4 at 12 noon. Panera Bread at 2070 N. Clybourn. For those who aren't able to make it, I will send information after we get together. I am really excited about this!
See you Sunday!

hehhe just kidding but really, how will we find each other Sunday at noon at Panera's? Since I don't think any of us has met, how will we know? It could be crowded on a Sunday noon, so we should have some 'inconspicuous' way of indentifying ourselves to each other... any suggestions?

I think the red carnation idea is cute, and I will wear one. If you would like to wear one, too, great. If not..then simply look for those of us (at least one of us)with the flower. Lee

It was fun! A very nice group. Does everyone know about the Cooking Light event at the East Bank Club in Chicago April 21st? It's a prepared French dinner from Cooking Light, and also to discuss Supper Clubs. I'm sure it's posted here somewhere on Cooking lights' site. I signed up today. sounds yummy!

You'll need to count me out then unless we meet later than 4:30pm. I work 9am 'til 5pm every Saturday

Hi all - looks like a lot is going on with planning here. I just joined, wasn't aware there was a SC before. I am interested in joining the group for future SC meetings/dinners. I'm 26, recently married and live in the South Loop (15th and Indiana). If someone could bring me up to speed on what's going on, members, etc, I would greatly appreciate it. You can email me at kristen.s.rellihan@accenture.com
Looking foward to meeting everyone and getting involved!
