Avatar problems...

I'm trying to add an avatar to my profile. First, I tried loading it by clicking Browse... when that didn't work, I did some digging in this forum and saw that that part doesn't work. I loaded my pictures into ofoto.com and tried adding them from there. Every time it tells me that they're too big. None of them are more than 50x50 pixels. Can somebody help me or point me in the right direction?
