My cat's 19 today! Happy Birthday!!!

Nineteen years ago today, our cat Dusty was born in a cardboard box beside our dining room radiator. We lost her mom, Boots, a couple of years ago, but her only remaining offspring is still going strong-- and may that be true for many years! Because I don't know what DH & I would do without our little girl...

I think that, in human years, she is 91.

The first year of a cat's life is probably metabolically equivalent to about 13 to 15 "human years". The next year is probably equivalent to another 10 or so years. After that, each year is probably close to the metabolic equivalent of about 4 years for a human.

My vet told me "cat years" were about 6:1 in relation to humans. That would make your baby 114! Frankly, I think your calculations are more reasonable.

And it makes my Mouser (17) and P-nut Head (15) a little younger!

Dusty is sitting on my lap and said "ow"* when I showed her the screen with your messages on it.
(*-loose translation is "thanks everyone!) :)

It's difficult to pamper this birthday girl today since she is pretty much pampered every day, but she has had a lot of "lap time" and will soon go out to the front porch to doze the rest of the afternoon in warm spring breezes... and she also had some albacore tuna for lunch... ;)

My kitty BC (basementcat) just turned 14 yesterday. She looks very similar to Dusty... gray with beautiful green eyes!

We couldn't imagine a day without her!
