timing-out problems

hi--

Several of us are having problems replying to threads. More often than not, I am timed out before my reply posts to a thread. Sometimes it posts anyway, despite the time-out, and sometimes it doesn't.

Also, I can almost never edit one of my posts without getting timed-out. This is happening on my home computer (cable modem) as well as all of the computers at my school, so it doesn't seem to be a computer problem.

Is the time-out happening because the connection is slow or is it simply timing out too soon?

It doesn't seem to be timing out too soon (it's way past thirty seconds when it dies), it just doesn't seem to connect in a timely fashion. I've had this problem for months, but it's definitely gotten worse over the last couple of weeks, and happens more often when editing a post than when posting.

Ditto. And I have a cable modem at home (and school's computers are networked), so a slow connection isn't the problem. I only have this problem on the CL site, and only specifically when replying or (especially) editing a post. It's so bad that I've given up using the edit feature. I just have to think more carefully about what I say!

OK, the editing message I wrote in my previous message showed up, but it still timed out after exactly 30 seconds and gave me a fatal execution error. But at least it showed up despite the "error".
