On the cookie thread we all agreed that broken cookies have no calories. Well here's more:

Anything eaten standing up has no calories.

Tasting has no calories.

If you're more than 50 miles from home calories don't count.

What else?

If you didn't mean to eat the whole thing, only the part you should have eaten counts!

In my family, the favorite saying is "Vacation food, holiday food, and birthday food has no calories!"

Of course we know it's not true, but what the heck!

And, any food you eat while traveling (including food eaten on the plane) does not count! After all, dragging around luggage burns lots of calories! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

Anything eaten off someone else's plate...

Anything consumed at 3AM in the dark; but it has to be right out of the container, like ice cream, or potato chips, or cookies....

Sandy1- I think that is my favorite... that means the two bites of eggs benedict from Brian's plate yesterday were free!!!!

How about a new idea: Anything eaten while reading the CL BB!!! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

Dieters, please take no offense, but if nobody sees you eat it, it has no calories!

Foods of the same color have the same amount of calories. (I think that means dark chocolate has as many calories as a Diet Coke or Pepsi!)

How about the all-time favorite: food you don't pay for has no calories. That includes getting taken out to dinner; weddings; parties; lunch meetings (when lunch is provided); free samples at stores; goodies sold at the coffee bar that are free at the end of the day . . .
Trouble with this myth is that there are so many applications for it!

For all you moms...the food your toddler leaves uneaten (by him/her) has no calories if you eat it..after all, you shouldn't throw out perfectly good food!!

For those times when cookie calories DO count, here's how to lie to the bathroom scale:
--Never weigh yourself with wet hair.
--When weighing, remove everything, including glasses and earrings.
--Always go to the bathroom first.
--Stand with arms raised, making pressure on the scale lighter.
--Weigh yourself after a haircut, this is good for at least half a pound of hair (hopefully).
--Exhale with all your might BEFORE stepping on the scale (air has to weigh something, right?).
--Start out with just one foot on the scale, then holding onto the towel rack in front of you, slowly edge your other foot on and slowly let off of the rack. Admittedly, this takes time, but it's worth it. You will weight at least 2 pounds less than if you'd stepped on normally.

If you eat a piece of raw vegetable for every piece of high calorie food they cancel each other out so no calories. This works especially well at buffets and parties.

Cinharp, I totally agree! How can the crusts of peanut butter sandwiches have any calories? I do always remember my mom telling me that the crusts were good for you (I actually grew up thinking that the crusts had more vitamins or "something" than the rest of the bread... ). So they definitely should not go to waste. I've even become very good at spreading the peanut butter and jelly right up to the edge of the bread, just so I won't get bread only!

Hi,

Whatever you eat at a movie or a play doesn't count, because it's part of the whole entertainment experience.

This thread continues to crack me up! I didn't realize how diet illiterate I am! Tasting while cooking doesn't count.

Kentgirl-Do you live behind me? I follow the same routines!! Too funny!!

Not to mention that if you're eating something only to be polite, it doesn't count.

Boy, Ed, that makes me feel better about the popcorn I consumed last night at the movies! I guess that also fits in with no one seeing me eat it since it's dark in the theatre. Oh, and my husband paid for the movie, so the calories wouldn't count again there. Does this mean that I have compiled negative calories?

You all have forgotten the most important one! Anything eaten with a "charitable dispensation" doesn't count. That would include the church potluck, Girl Scout cookies, fund-raiser BBQs, and probably anything prepared from a community cookbook recipe, since they sell those to raise funds for their charity.
