I received a Vita Mix blender for Christmas. Do any of you have a favorite recipe using this machine? I'm a little overwhelmed by it!

COOL!!!! I have always reccomended the vita-mix on the food processor and blender threads but it just doesn't seem to be a big favorite. I say CONGRATULATIONS! You have no idea how many tools you just replaced or will never want for http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif It may seem overwhelming to start but if you watch the video and start with the beginner recipes as suggested you will be amazed at the things you will figure out to do with it. Also, their service department is impecable should you ever need it. The whole wheat bread is excellent. The soups are amazing! My favorite recipe is a good marguarita http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif Let's see cole slaw.....I could go on for hours but to answer your question, just take it slow and easy at a rate you feel comfortable using the book and feel great knowing how easy it is to clean and that you won't have all those parts to contend with. Have FUN!! The biggest problem for me is that I was conditioned to do everything on high because most machines you have to. Pay much attention to the suggested settings as this is a VERY powerful machine and most things can be done on a low setting in 5 seconds.

Thanks MLOU! I will follow your suggestions. The recipes seem to use a lot of toufu and combinations I've not heard of. If you have some common suggestions for a smoothie or something like that, I'd appreciate it.

I have had one for 15 years. I don't use it as much as I used to (although I should). My favorite smoothie is to fill the bottom with orange juice (to cover the blades), put in a banana, an apple (cored and cut up into large chunks, but leave the peel on), frozen strawberries, some yogurt (plain or vanilla), frozen peaches and some ice cubes. You can really use any fruit combination you like, and I tend to use whatever frozen stuff I have (raspberries, blueberries, etc.). Have fun, and thanks for reminding me of that wonderful machine I have - I will have to make something with it soon!
