I know that there is a huge, diverse group of people out there and need to know the answer to this question about the old Popeyecartoon:

Just before Popeye eats spinach to turn into a powerful guy, he exclaims something about having taken "all I can take, and I can't take no more", or something like that. Does anyone know the exact phrasing of this?

(Personally, I know all of the words to the Magilla Gorilla theme song, but there are some things that I just don't remember!) :D

There's a website that says this is the phrase:

Q.8- What is Popeye's favorite saying?

There are 2 that come to mind: I yam what I yam ! and I've had all I can stand, I can't stands no more!

DH says, "That's all I can stands, 'cause I can't stands no more."

They're all very close to each other. I wonder which it is.

DH posits that it may vary slightly in each episode. He further notes that the effects of the spinach vary. Sometimes he makes a muscle with one arm and it goes into his other arm. Sometimes the guns in his tattoo battleship shoot. And of course, Popeye usually mumbles to himself throughout the cartoon.

He was probably on some kind of halucinogen :p

BTW, I always thought he said "and" and not "cause"

He also said "Don't take no vacashkuns from imunizashkuns" (sorry for the screwy spelling, but he had his own little language ;) ) :D

Colleen - I found the answer on one of the comic strips from about a month ago. That's how the artist printed it. He may have variations though.
