View Full Version : Looking for a good kitchen table ...
Our current kitchen table is about 10 years old, the finish is wearing off, and I'm thinking I could put it to use elsewhere in our house.
What I'd like to find is a round wooden kitchen table, with a pedestal-type base (don't want the legs around the edges so I'd be limited in where I could place chairs), that would extend to seat 10-12 people for holidays.
Does anyone have such a table that they are happy with, and if so where did you purchase it?

I don't have this table, but we do have several Pottery Barn pieces at home - storage centers, entertainment center, coffee table. We're quite happy with them, as they're made very well, and are very sturdy.
Good luck finding one! This one comes in a bunch of different finishes, and though I'm not sure if this is the pedestal style you are after, I thought it might fit.

Just edited to add the link (http://ww2.potterybarn.com/cat/pip.cfm?src=shpcfurdintbl%7Crshop%2Fshpcfurdin%7Cr shop%2Fshpafur%7Ccmmf%7Cnshop%7Crmixmatch%2Fhme&pkey=cfurdintbl&gids=p1385)
Another edit  The table comes in different sizes - one that is round and can be extended :)
Thanks for the PB link ... this is a very nice looking table! And I appreciate your feedback on the quality of their furniture, as I do not have any yet. This may be the one!

We just bought a Canadel table, but I can't say whether or not I'm happy with it yet since it isn't being delivered until tomorrow. The table looks similar to the one Kayla posted, but our chairs are different. We heard a lot of good things about this company, and we know several people who have one that they are very happy with, so we are quite sure we'll like ours. We really shopped around for the price on ours. We found several furniture stores in this area that carried this brand, but a huge variation in the price (over a thousand dollars difference between different stores!) We ended up getting the best price at a small little dinette store. I can't wait to see it tomorrow!
I forgot to mention... with this company, you pretty much design the table yourself. They have a variety of different finishes, table legs/pedestals, chairs etc. and you just pick and choose how you want it to come together.
Thank you all for the ideas ... this will help me to start my search!
