My eldest DD found out today that she has been accepted in the Vet Tech program she applied for. They had over 100 applicants, interviewed 50 and accepted 24!!

I know it's not Harvard but we are so excited and proud of her. Her passion, love and knowledge of all animals is so evident. We have a picture of her at age two holding the first frog she ever found. She was beaming then and she is beaming now.
Thanks for letting me share a small joy with you all.:)

Thanks guys- yes it's the Kim in kima!!!

Perhaps I can talk her into being our resident pet counsellor when she's finished though of course senority goes to our beckms who is studying to be a real vet!:o :p

I like that Natasha- the Maureen family- I'll let the rest of the pack know that.
(next fall I will cook for only two people!!! Since I didn't start cooking until I had a family I don't know what that's like!):D
Another stage of life is before me......:( :) :( :) (cause I have mixed feelings)

Hi Kima! Just to refresh your memeory...I am the gal going to Vancouver next week! You were great with your advice and tips about Vancover! Thank you!

I almost got a tear in my eye reading your post. I have a 5 year old DD and when you ask her what she wants to be when she grows up she will tell you, "A veterinarian and a movie star!" She looooves animals and is always catching little creatures (and of course releasing them back into the wild) and she watches animal planet. I know if she grew up to be a vet I would be SO proud!

Congrats to you and yur daughter!

Wow Maureen, that's great news! As Natasha said, congrats to Kim and the whole Maureen family!! I have a very dear friend who is also going through the empty nest thing too. Her DD is going into a horse training program and her son will be joining the Coast Guard.

Tip on cooking for 2: You probably know this but...making recipes for 4 servings will still work as you and DH will have leftovers for lunch the next day.

Actually Wendy I am hoping this means I can cook every other day!!!!:o (oops this may not be the place to make such a confession!):p
Maybe someday Kim will become a Vet but this program is to become a Vet Tech- the people who clean dogs teeth, help in surgery, clean cages, etc. etc.
Thanks again for your enthusiasm.
Adrianna- the weather reports sound promosing for your visit (fingers crossed). I look forward to hearing about your adventures and impresiions of our fair land. How cool about your DD- like me you will end up spending hours in pet stores, aquariums, zoos and the outdoors!:) :)

Getting to follow through on something you love is always great and matters far more than so many other things. And I bet vet techs probably fare pretty well on the quality of life scale -- even against Harvard grads. ;)

Of course you can Peggy- how else can you make one of those luscious apple pies....
Your right about the happiness factor Beth. I always did tell my girls to follow their hearts...now if youngest DD would just go to art school.:(

Thanks for all your warm wishes. :)
