Goodmorning everyone! I can't believe I'm the one starting this today. Where is everyone?
Not much planned here today. Or for that matter this weekend. Maybe going out tonight for a fish fry, but that's about it.
I've had some computer issues this week and I need to reinstall my printer so I probably won't be around much today. I've been sitting in this chair all week trying to resolve these issues with Dell and really need a change of scenery!
Any way that charity that I shaved my head for finally updated their website if you want to check me out prior to the shave. www.stbaldricks.org click on shavees and then type in my first name.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Good morning, Klatchers! :)
Peggy, what a great picture!! Thanks so much for sharing. How's it growing in - faster than you thought? Gosh, it's been two weeks now. What a great way to start off a new hairstyle! :)
I had a psychic party last night. He was a numerologist, and it was very, very interesting. He had me, my mother and my husband pegged. It was just a night of fun, a few cocktails, and a few enlightening moments. I try to not take this stuff too seriously. ;)
Nothing major planned for the weekend - Jim's been working 12 hour days since he started this job, and I try not to pack too much into his only 2 days of down time. He did express interest in going to the local Home & Garden show, so that'll probably be tomorrow. Otherwise, we'll take it day by day.
Pam's procedure on Wednesday was cancelled  ; she spent 4 hours in a doctor's office yesterday for a follow up (follow up to what???), and didn't even see the doctor. It's maddening.
Take care, everyone, and have a great weekend. :)

I just think that is so cool. Peggy, you rock!!!
Just another dreary day. Hopefully the weekend will get brighter.
Only exciting thing this weekend is DH= and his brother are installing our new front door and storm door. I cannot wait to see what it will look like. Of coarse there will still be the staining of it with that graining tool....this is my job. Needed a trade off since the hardware we chose was so $$$$.

Hi, Peggy. I'll play! I don't usually reply but always read the friday klatches. I should be geeting ready for work but the thought of rainy day schedule after a week of Stanford 9 testing doesn't do much for me:rolleyes: It is however nice that it is raining here in AZ and the temps will not be over 72. Nice change. I don't have much going this weekend except to go out and get some boxes and start packing up the apt. I bought a house! I'm very excited about the prospect of owning my first home and having a yard for the dog. I guess I should move out of the planning stages of packing and move into the next stage. I'll go to church on sunday too other than that nothing much.
Good luck with your printer issues. It's always a pain when technology doesn't work the way its suppose to!
Have a good day.

Peggy,
Great pictures!
Sandy,
The phychic party sounds like fun! OTOH, that's terrible about Pam's procedure! She continues to be in my prayers!
Karen,
Yeah on the new front door. We did ours this year and I love it.
Lisa,
Welcome the klatch and congrats on the new house!!
Not much going on this weekend. I'm working tomorrow and Al's got another softball game tomorrow night. I'm off all next week for Ginger's Spring Break. Hopefully we'll be meeting Ralph & DW for sightseeing and lunch on Thursday. Ginger & I might hike up Kennesaw Mountain, and I've got Home Depot coming over to do a kitchen measure. Nothing else is planned, but I'm working on convincing Al that I need a new dress wear when we go out for our anniversary!

Good morning, everyone!
Peggy, you are awesome! And very, very brave! :)
Sandy, sorry to hear Pam's procedure was cancelled. I know that has to be so frustrating!!! {hugs}
Hdgirl, I need a new storm door and front door (well, want is probably a better word), but don't have anyone to do it for me and refuse to pay Home Depot to do it. Good luck with the staining!
Well, I had an AWESOME time at my triathlon last weekend. THe swim (in really good surfer's wave in the Pacific) was the hardest thing I've ever done in my life. But after that, I think that I can do anything, so I'm planning on doing the Maui Olympic distance tri next year with TNT. It's 14 months away, so I have plenty of time to raise the $5,800. And I think I've talked my DBF into doing it as well.
Thanks so much for all the well wishes and good lucks (I read them after I got back Monday night). I went and ran 5+ miles Wednesday night. I'm not going to let up. I've also applied to be a "Run Captain" for the Fall tri teams, which will get me a $1,000 fundraising credit, and provide an incentive to show up at running workouts (I hate running, but it might be growing on me a little).
I'm heading to my parent's today after work. I haven't been home in quite a while, so it will be nice to hang out with them. It's 180 miles away (3 hours).
Have a great weekend, everyone!

Hi Leigh and Lisa!
Gracie
04-02-2004, 06:05 AM
Good morning all! I'm going to go back and read everyone's posts in a bit.
This is my last day at my job. I start my new job bright and early Monday morning! I'm excited but I'm already looking forward to long commutes and being tired.
We had a serious crisis last night. We got 5" of rain in 24 hours and the basement flooded. The basement where they'd stored half our kitchen cabinets. We managed to get them into the other side of the basement where it was dry and I opened the boxes to let them air out and keep the moisture away from the cabinets. I really don't think there was much if any damage to the cabinets but DH and I were very busy late into the night. Now all the cabinets are blocking all my cooking pots, pans, utensils and food so we may be doing takeout for awhile. The furnace shut off too since there was so much water inside it but luckily it went on by its own accord after drying out all night. DH is home cleaning up and for once, I had to come to work to get my stuff!!
So I'm going to be cleaning out my office and checking back in here. Talk to you all soon.

Mornin' Peggy! Fish fry yummmmm...... Sorry to hear about your troubles with Dell. That sort of thing really gets me all worked up and after several minutes on hold I'm fuming. :( Hope it gets resolved for you soon! What a fun photo of you on the St. Baldrick's site - you look like you're having a great time.
Hi Sandy! How totally frustrating about Pam's surgery. Hope you and Jim enjoy a relaxing weekend together. :)
Karen, I will have paintbrush in hand this weekend too. Isn't it nice to get new things for the house? Are you guys done with all of your interior renovations?
Lisa, congratulations on the house! How very exciting - are you mentally decorating the place yet? ;)
Leigh, have fun dress shopping! :D Enjoy your week off next week, and how exciting that you'll be able to get together with Ralph & his DW while they're in town.
Jennifer, that's awesome about your triathalon! Great job. :) Have a fun trip to visit your family this weekend.
Loren, so sorry to hear about your flood! Enough of this rain already - we have a small lake in our driveway right now, and a little water in the garage but thankfully our basement is dry. How scary about your kitchen cabinets - I do hope they're ok!
We're in for a rainy weekend, after a very wet week. Which works out well because DH and I have a major painting project to tackle. Our #2 bedroom/office is getting a facelift, and deep red/burgundy walls. Hopefully by Sunday night it will be freshly painted, with all of the new bookshelves loaded and in place, but that might be a bit ambitious.

Loren - I'm so sorry to hear about the flood in the basement - ugh! I do hope that the cabinets are okay (and everything else, for that matter). I'm so glad you're excited about your new job - although the commute and being tired parts don't sound all that thrilling. ;)
Jen - That's awesome about the triathalon! Congratulations! I'm amazed by people who do that. It certainly sounds like you've caught the bug!!
Leigh - Enjoy your visit with Ralph and all the other activities for next week's spring break. :)
Lisa - Congrats on the new house! That's so exciting.
HDgirl - We desperately need a new storm door and front door. The storm door opens on its own in high winds, and the window in the front door is separating from the door itself. It's so desperately unattractive. ;) It's like buying new towels, though. Everything else gets done first. For some reason, doors are the last thing we (as a couple) think about.
Good morning all! This morning's coffee was New Mexico Pinon Company's "Essence of Santa Fe". Yum! I was wishing I could inject it directly into my veins instead of drinking it, as I've only had one hour of sleep since 2 AM this morning. :o
Not too much planned for this weekend. I have a massage tomorrow and can't wait. My neck and shoulders are so racked up that I've been to the chiropractor twice since last Thursday. I'm hoping she can work out some of these huge knots. We might go see the new Disney movie Home on the Range, too.
Sandy - that party sounds really interesting! Sorry to hear about Pam's appt being cancelled. I'm sure it is very frustrating for all of you.
Leigh - have fun meeting Ralph and his DW!
Jennifer- congrats on the triathlon! That's great!
Peggy- How is Otis adjusting to your new hairstyle? Did he recognize you that night?
Loren - sorry to hear about your flood- that stinks.
Hi to Lisa, Kathryn and Karen, too!

Sandy~ a psychic party sounds like fun. I love that stuff.
Lisa~ congrats on the house. We've been in ours for almost 8 years and it has become a labor of love.
Leigh~ it was time to change it. We are replacing the original and although we thought about stripping and refinishing it...the new one has leaded glass and is just so cool. The hardware is gothic looking, gunmetal gray, it's perfect for our little castle. :D
jj~ I'm glad the tri went well. I've only done mini's. How long was it? I really should get back into it again.
Loren~ this rain is awful. Glad your cabinets made it.

Good morning all! Nothing better than Friday and payday! :D
Peggy, the pics are great!
Sandy, hugs to you, family and Pam. The psychic party sounds like fun!
Loren, sorry about the flooding, not a fun thing to do at night! Good luck in the new job!
Jen, that's great that the Tri went so well and you're going to do it again! I'm impressed because I don't know that I could ever do that!
Leigh, good luck with Home Depot, very exciting...!
Lisa, congrats on the house!
Karen, good luck with the door!
Kathryn, good luck on the painting...love painting rooms deep red, though not one in this house has that. We'll see when we start the 2nd floor renovations!
Well, not much going on this weekend. Though it is our last quiet weekend for the next 5 weekends, so I'm just going to relax and try to get my damned baby blanket worked on. Sunday we're having Easter at my mom's since we'll be OC MD for Easter. I volunteered the dessert and mom calls and asks that it be lowfat, so there goes the BA Lemonade Cake that I was going to make. Course I may just make it and lie if I don't find something else today!
Hello to all coming after me!

Sandy, Sorry to hear about Pam's surgery. Have fun at the Home & Garden Show.
Karen, Yay! for the new door. Put those men to work ;)
Lisa, Welcome!
Leigh, Have fun meeting Ralph & DW. Every lady needs a new dress for her wedding anniversary ;)
Jennifer, Glad to hear the triathalon went well.

Linsley, Enjoy the quiet weekend!

Karen,
The door sounds nice! We had to replace ours too. The new one has a decorative fan light, but it's brass not lead. DH tried to talk me into some decorative sidelights, but one was cracked and was very obvious. Even for free I didn't want that. We had to replace the entire door frame since it was rotting and the sidelights were cracked. The new one is PVC on the outside!
Jen,
That's great about the Triathalon!
Sue,
Have you and DH heard anymore about his
job transfer?
Loren,
Wow! I'm glad that you saved your new cabinets. Good luck on the new job!
Kathryn,
Have fun redoing the bedroom. Want to come do mine, I'm so uninspired although I know what I want to do to our bathroom! :D
Linsley,
I hope you get to really enjoy your free weekend! Good luck finding a new dessert.

I forgot to post what we are up to this weekend :o
I am getting a prenatal massage today. I am so excited! An hour and a half of pure relaxation - woohoo! :D I am also getting my hair done with a new stylist, so it should be interesting. I won't be changing the cut drastically, but I need help fixing the color. The hormones are making my hair grow in darker than normal
Tomorrow, we are heading up to see our new basement, then over to my parents. We'll stay the night there and spend Palm Sunday with them and my family. My DB and DSIL will also be staying the night with the baby, so that will be interesting as they are the only ones used to having a baby in the house overnight.
Leigh- they set him up with an office and an admin asst in Atlanta, but he will travel back and forth and work from both places indefinitely. Details are still up in the air, but for now he can be based here.
Have fun dress shopping, too!

Good grief people this thing goes fast!
Hello to you all! I'm heading to Ann Arbor again this weekend to go to Zingerman's and to have coffee with a friend. I should also go to the school play, but we'll see.
Otherwise, nice slow weekend for me!

I'm back for a few then I need to head out to the post office.
Oh my I almost forgot to tell you guys that I met with a potential client on Tues night and they hired me! Yippee! I was so excited. It is actually a pretty big job dog sitting for them while they are out of town. This woman is involved the cleveland animal protective league so she could be a great contact!
I'm with everyone else who is sick of the rain. Loren I'm sorry to hear about your flood, I hope the cabinets are ok. That had to heart wrenching!
Sandy sorry to hear about Pam's surgery. That had to be so upsetting. I'll keep you all in my prayers. Your party sounds like fun. I've only ever been to one of those, but they are intereting.
Karen I'm jealous of your new door too. I'd really like a new one and a new storm too. Unfortunately it is not in the budget this spring. I think our big project ($ wise) will be our front steps. (UN?)fortunately we won't beable to the work ourselves, we'll definitely need to hire a mason for it. If we can do some landscaping this year that would be great.
Lisa congrats on the house!
Leigh I say go out and buy a really hot dress and you won't need to convice him! Have fun with Ralph and his DW and with your week off!
Jennifer I got something in the mail the other day about team in training. Is it true they really pay your expenses to get you to the event? That is awsome and it sounds like you had a great time!
Kathryn atleast you only fume...unfortunately my way of dealing with most things is to cry like fool. I went through plenty of kleenex this week. Hopefully (keeping fingers crossed) everything is fixed now. Oh but Tim at dell will curse the day he gave me his extension! :D That color sounds great!
Sue Otis is fine with the new do, if I could only get John to stop rubbing my head! I'm hoping it is grown out enough by easter so I won't have to worry about a hat....oh a new easter bonnet!? Sorry you didn't get any sleep last night...sounds like the massage is perfectly timed!
Linsley can you point me in the direction of that cake recipe? I was thinking something lemony for Easter dessert also. How was your cookout last week?
Molli I read your first post and thought....well she didn't say what she was up to! Enjoy your massage also and I hope work is progressing on the basement.
Ok gotta go type a letter!

Kathryn~ Good luck with your painting. I really enjoy painting. Now, the door will be a little different. I will be practicing on the side door first. As far as the other remodeling. He has almost finished re-surfacing all the walls in the upstairs hallway. Then he'll be heading down the stairs and then the foyer. That's why he wanted to put a new door in. We will still have lots after this.
Sandy~ funny about the towels...I bought new hand towels for the upstairs bath the day before DS's girlfriend came last weekend.

Peggy,
Yeah on the first client and great potential contact! I hope things get straightened out with the computer. If you get too fed up wiht Dell I can try and get Al to give you a call. We've got free long distance on our cell.
Molli,
Enjoy your massage!
Bethany,
Slow weekends are nice! Have fun at Zingerman's.
Sue,
Darnit! I was hoping you'd move near me! No, seriously I hope things workout for him.
Doh! Mariel decided to have a whine fest this morning while Ginger decided at the last minute she wanted to take lunch (on pizza day no less!), and I totally forgot to put Ginger's eye patch on! Fortunately she had an extra in her bag and the nice lady who answered the phone at school said she'd take care of it for me.
What do you thing of this idea?
I have a friend who's mom has wallpaper in her master bathroom that looks like tile. It looks nice, but I hate wallpaper in bathrooms. Then someone did something on Trading Spaces with two brushes and two colors of paint that looked like limestone. I thought I could repaint the bathroom walls a basic off white, then use thin tape (1/8 inch) to simulate grout and do the TS technique to make paint that looked like tile on our bathroom walls?
Leigh
Good morning all.
Peggy- Wow all that hair for charity. Congrats on the new client. I know that as a dog owner we are very loyal to whoever takes good care of our dog.
Molli- Enjoy the massage and hope the house is coming along.
Sue- Hope things get settled with DH and that you enjoy yoour massage as well.
Loren- So sorry to hear about the basement, hope the cabinets are OK. Right there with you that I have had enough of this rain.
Leigh- Have fun with your week off next week and I second the vote for a hot dress. The tile look with paint sounds very interesting- maybe try a small area and see what you think.
Jen- Congrats on th successful triathalon. I have always wanted to do a three day walk but have been intimidated by the fundraising aspect- I can't ask people for money.
Hope everyone doing housework and remodeling has great success.
This weekend will be a quiet one for us. DS has had a fever of 102 the last three days and still hasn't kicked it, so DH is taking him back to the doctor today. Since he has stopped eating as well we suspect something will show up in his throat. It is DH's birthday tomorrow and he was supposed to go golfing but I think the rain will prevent that. He isn't to broken hearted though as next weekend we head to NY for opening weekend of the Yankees and his trip ever to Yankee stadium.
Other than that tonight will probably be spent arguing with my inlaws as they just can't see why we are reluctant to throw Logan in the car drive an hour to their house and subject all of us to a sick baby in a house that isn't baby proofed in any way- just so MIL can make dinner for her son on his birthday, and tell us for the 100th time that DH was such a colicky baby and nothing but misery for the first few months but the still loved him anyway:rolleyes:   HELOO do I not have a kitchen that you could use and never mind the fact that Logan screams when we put him down to do anything that last three days.
OK mini vent over.
Have a great weekend everone.

Peggy, below is the the Lemonade cake. Julie (KValley) posted it last year and said it was really good. I've been meaning to try it since and I really think I'm going to lie and tell my mom that it's lowfat! And congrats on the client! Cookout was very nice, thanks.
Sue, a friend of mine and her boyfriend just bought a house in State College since he starts his MBA there in the fall. And I told she's lucky to live in a town with not only Wegmans, but also Tarzhay! I'm jealous and I just may be up to visit! :0)
Leigh, Does Ginger have a lazy eye? I had surgery at three for a lazy eye and then had to wear the patch, glasses and contacts! I'm not sure if they knew what to do with me!
Lemonade Cake with Lemon Glaze
To measure the cake flour, sift some into a large bowl, then measure 2 1/4 cups.
12 servings
CAKE
Nonstick vegetable oil spray
2 1/4 cups sifted cake flour
1 3/4 cups sugar
1 tbl baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup lemonade
5 large egg yolks
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
1 tbl grated lemon peel
1 cup large egg whites (7 to 8)
1/2 tsp cream of tartar
GLAZE
1 cup (packed) powdered sugar
1 tbl fresh lemon juice
1/2 tsp grated lemon peel
1 tsp (or more) lemonade
For cake - Preheat oven to 325. Spray 10-inch-diameter tube pan with removable bottom with nonstick spray. Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt into large bowl. Make well in center. Add oil and next 4 ingredients to well. Whisk until smooth. Using electric mixer, beat egg whites and cream of tartar in another large bowl until whites are stiff but not dry. Fold into batter in 4 additions. Pour into pan.
Bake cake until golden and tester inserted near center comes out clean, about 55 minutes. Invert center tube of pan onto narrow-neck bottle; cool cake. (Can be made 1 day ahead. Turn right side up, cover, and store at room temperature.)
For glaze - Whisk powdered sugar, lemon juice, and lemon peel in small bowl until smooth. Add 1 tsp lemonade and whisk until glaze has thick, pourable consistency, adding more lemonade by teaspoonfuls, if necessary.
Cut around pan sides; remove sides. Cut cake from bottom of pan. Place right side up on platter. Drizzle with glaze. Let stand until glaze sets, at least 1 hour. (Can be made 1 day ahead. Cover with cake dome, store at room temperature.)

Heather-good luck arguing w/ your in-laws.. Hope Logan gets to feeling better soon!
Leigh-that sounds like a great idea! But then, I'm creative-challenged, and anything like that is way over my head, but it sounds good! :)
Peggy-Congrats on the first client! I wish I had a dog-sitter nearby. I've found a kennel that I like, but it's 30 minutes away and a bit of a hassle.
Sue-why so little sleep? I'm guessing DD2 kept you up? Maybe you'll get a chance to nap today?
We're in for a rainy weekend here as well, but I think we sort of need it. I just hope it doesn't rain on my drive. I hate being on the interstate in the pouring rain!
Peggy-yes, they do pay your way. That actually comes from your fundraising though. About 75% of your fundraising goes back to the society; the other pays for admin costs and such. Not a bad deal at all!
Heather-I was scared about the fundraising. I dreaded asking people for money, but that's how I got all of my $4,633 I raised. I had heard that you'd be surprised at who donates vs. who doesn't, and that is so true. Not that I think any less of anyone who didn't donate--I know everyone has their own causes they prefer to support. I did get some donations from those who I didn't expect it from (one was for $500--now that was a shocker!), and then others who I know has the $$ didn't. Next time around, I'm going to have to get creative though. I'll ask some people again, but I won't be relying on just fundraising letters.

Good Morning All!
It is a beautiful sunny day here in Vancouver and I have a fairly relaxing day planned. Curves with a friend, some shoe shopping and a date with my man:) Maybe squeeze some gardening in there too.
Heather, hope your DS feels better soon. and that the in-laws give you some rest:rolleyes:
Leigh, your bathroom plan sounds challenging, but i have seen it done where it does look good. It might be fun to experement (too early to spell properly).
Molli and Sue, Enjoy your massages. Sometimes you just need these things.
Jen, glad to hear the triathalon went well.
Peggy, you are so brave. I think I would be too scared to shave all my hair off. Good for you.

Sandy, sorry to hear about the frusteration with your SIL. Its so unfair to her and to your family. I hope that they do something for her soon.
Linsley- what will his concentration be for his MBA? I'm doing some freelance work for my old office in the Business college, and they hire MBA students (as grad assistants) who are focusing on Supply Chain.
Anyway, let me know if you come to visit! Where is their house?
Jennifer- our one dog had to go outside at 2 AM to do his thing. ;) Then the baby woke up at 2:30 and would not go back to sleep until 4! Just as I'm finally starting to drift off, DD1 comes down the hallway into our room at 4:15 because she had a bad dream. Her bedroom is kind of near the door that leads down to our lower level and she's been having dreams lately about someone coming up from down there and robbing us! Anyway, at that point I told DH she was all his and I took my pillow down to the spare room to sleep. Unfortunately, I think the guinea pig must have been doing his aerobics or something because he was making so much noise in his cage! I finally got back to sleep around 5:30 and woke at 6:30.

Ok hopefully everything is working now. I think I'm going to put on a rain coat and take the dog to the park. We really need to get out of the house!
Leigh that painting technique sounds cool. I think it will look good. When you're done with that you can come up and help me think of something fun to do with our basement floor.
Linsley thanks for the recipe it looks yummy an easy!
Jennifer thanks for the info on tnt maybe I'll take another look at that flyer!

Go to an info meeting. I went to one w/ my boyfriend, and didn't really think this would be something I would do. I just went because he wanted me to. Well, I was the first one to pull out my checkbook and pay my registration fee! After hearing the people talk and seeing a video, I was in!
Have a great weekend, Peggy!

Good morning everyone!
Sandy, I'm sorry to hear about Pam's procedure. Finally making the decision only to have it cancelled. :( Has she rescheduled it?
Loren, I hope the cabinets turn out ok. I would be such a bear having to wake up for work this morning if I were you -- but at least it's Friday, and you have your new job to look forward to!
Leigh, of all the Trading Spaces I watch, I haven't seen that episode! Is it on one of the Home Free shows? I think I could give a better opinion if I tried to catch the episode this weekend -- I'm not very good at visualization. OTOH, I'm not a fan of wallpaper either, but my Mom chose this great pattern for their powder room that convinced me that not all wallpaper is bad. I think the floral wallpaper she had before gave me a bad opinion of it.
Jennifer, congratulations on the triathalon! I got a mailing for TNT just yesterday too. Let's just say I didn't throw it out yet. ;) One of my co-workers is a marathon runner, and he's trying to convince me to run the 10-mile Broad Street Run here in May. Last year it was the same weekend as DF's sister's graduation, and this year, it's on our moving weekend. I think I'm just making excuses though -- maybe you can inspire me!
Lisa, good luck with the new house. DF and I just bought our first house, and I just realized yesterday that we're going to have to get packing since we settle at the end of the month. It's exciting!
Peggy, congratulations to you too for the new client! It's moving so fast, isn't it?
Hello to everyone else! I'm with everyone on the rain too. And on top of it, we're supposed to get hit with a cold front on Sunday -- they even mentioned flurries. :( Now that we're in April, I'm feeling pretty good about my decision not to try an April wedding.
Speaking of wedding, more wedding stuff this weekend. Tomorrow I'm going to get measured and order my dress. I still think I might like the one I posted last week better, but after trying on this one, when I went back to try on the first, it didn’t stand out to me as much. Plus, this one is much better on the budget!
Later tomorrow, I'm going home to help my youngest sister with her make-up before her spring formal. I've yet to see her all dressed up because she usually goes to get ready with her group of girl friends. Her BF recently got his license, so we're both hoping our parents will let him pick her up this time instead.
Sunday I'm working on getting DF to finally go register. Then our usual dinner and laundry at his parents'. Maybe a little relaxation time if we can fit it in!

Sue, I'm not sure what is concentration is in, I'll let you know if I find out. Their house is on the road going towards the mall in a little development with a bunch of bungalows. Theirs is just a box once story. I believe it's only 8 blocks from campus and they got an excellent deal!
I thought I'd say hello since we are still on the first page -- I just can't get through more than that.
So many fun things going on (ok, the cabinet flood isn't fun, but that was a good save -- and that's what counts most). I can't respond to each one, but I am impressed, both with all the fun things and the R&R. Sounds great all around.
I am stiff and sore from my recent travels and having started a new round of PT. Trying to regain some lost range of motion and calm down some screaming nerves.
We have a charity walk early tomorrow morning, a couple of scout activities, first soccer game for the season, an trying to get a few projects around the house worked on. I'd like to start painting a couple of accent tables to go between the rockers on my front porch and have some newly framed pictures to hang. Alaso hoping to move and change around some furniture in the gameroom so the boys have a table for games, puzzles and homework and DS1 has a place to practice trombone that doesn't blast everyone inthe family room.
I've been watching that Nuro yarn on ebay too, but haven't bought any yet. Feeling bad about all the extra expenses lately.
Hope you all have a great weekend and at least some sunshine. (We're having sun right now, but after the weekend, I'd be glad to have a good hard rain to wash away all the pollen -- I was walking the other day and could taste the pollen int he air! )

Sneezles,
Good to see you here, I've missed you in the klatches. Have fun slinging burgers!
Linsley,
Yes, Ginger has a lazy eye. She had her first appointment with the Pediatric Opthamologist last week. They tested her extensively and it appears that we caught it before any eye-drift developed so no surgery!!! Right now she's supposed to wear the patch all day. We try to get in 12 hours a day, but she's only up for 13 or so. :D They are hoping to have her vision back to normal in 3-4 months. We go back at the end of this month.
Linda,
Have fun on your shopping date! I'm hoping to do my gardening next week. Repeat: "Don't plant before Good Friday, Don't plant before Good Friday, Remember all the people who did and now have dead plants! " :D
I got a call from someone who is going to come give us an estimate on getting the yard fixed too!

Hi to everyone here! i've been walking around work making sure I say goodbye to everyone that I've worked with.
I can see now why the left coasters say this klatch moves so fast by the time they get here! I can't possibly respond to everyone so let's see what I remember:
Sandy - a psychic party? I've never heard of those. I bet they'd be fun as long as no one took it real seriously. I hope Pam gets some positive steps taken soon.
Kristin - you're ordering the dress! Yay! That's so exciting. It's the other one that made your mom tear up, right, not the one you posted last week? We are also expecting snow (not flurries) on Monday. :(
Leigh - your bathroom sounds like a daunting project. You are lucky that you can still count on the women in the school office to help you out. Wait til the girls get to middle school. The office women send messages over the PA for kids to come to the office twice each day. If the kids don't hear their names, their attitude is "oh well".  Don't even get me started on how many times Erin never got a message about changing plans for how she was getting home or to an appointment.
Sneezles - how's your Mastercook? Did you have to reinstall?
Peggy - that's so exciting about your first client! You go girl!! You're on your way. Someone else was upset with Dell too - Ralph maybe? Not a good sign for them.
Jen - that's wonderful about the triathalon. I can only dream about doing something like that. Powerwalking is my limit - although I'd like to start to run. We walk fast enough that it wouldn't be such a stretch to start running.
Sue - if it's not the baby it's the dog and DD1. I'm sorry you didn't get very much sleep.
Hi to everyone else! I wish I could remember everything.
I have to go to my Exit Interview in a few minutes. I've never been to one of those.
DH is so mad at the contractor - partly because the new French Drain didn't drain but more because this was like the last straw - he's so frustrated that the project is taking so long. He was still home cleaning up the basement when the contractor got to the house and he didn't respond when Mike yelled hello. Mike called me and said Andy's car is still in the driveway but he didn't respond. The architect said that the drain didn't drain partly because of so much water at once and the fact that other drainage issues aren't in place yet, like the retaining wall, gutters and some gravel for runoff. So it doesn't mean that Mike didn't do the drain correctly. But Andy just didn't want to hear it.
I wish I was a fly on the wall when Andy finally left for work and had to acknowledge Mike. Men!

Kristin,
No, it's not a home free show. I think it was Laurie who did it. She put a sheet of vyinl flooring on the wall, then had a wall with arches built and did the limestone technique on the arched wall. It looked really nice. It was two female roommates she worked with, and they lived in condos so both rooms were the same.
I'm looking at the site, but I can't find a picture.

Loren, I run slow enough that it could probably be considered walking. :)
Actually, I do intervals: run for a set amount of time, then walk for a set amount of time. I tried to get up to 5/1s, but found that 3/1s worked well for me so that's what I do.
Kristin--how exciting to be buying your wedding dress!!! I bet your big day will be here before you know it! :)
Beth, have fun at your charity walk. This is for the Children's hospital, right? Hopefully the weather will cooperate.
Jen- That is a great amount of money you raised for charity. I have heard from other people that people will surprise you when it comes to donating.
Linda- Enjoy your nice day and hope fully you will get some gardening in. DH and I finally got in the garden last week and got all the weeds pulled out of our dafodill beds. There are a ton coming up but you couldn't see them cause of all the weeds.
Sue- Sorry to hear about your rough night. Logan was up at 4:30 this monring and DH took him and slept with him in the guest room. I was very grateful to him for that.
Kristin- Sounds like things are coming along great with the wedding. If I can offer some advice about registering it would be do it a little at a time and pick a few places. We did Macys, WS and Crate and Barrel. WS and Crate and Barrel weren't too bad but Macys got to be very overhwleming the first time we were there, so we left and then went back for an hour the next couple of weekends, and only did certain things like linenes or glasses or dishes each time we went. I thought DH would hate it but he was more into it than me. He went nuts with the scanning gun:D :D
Loren- Hope you are enjoying your last day.
Beth- Hope PT helps
Talked to DH and the dr says Logan just has a really bad cold- no sore throat and his ears are completely clear which I guess is a good thing. His 6th tooth popped through last night and the DR said he can see Logan is working on at least 2 more. This is kid is going to have a full mouth by the time he is one.;)

So I will say happy weekend to the East Coasters and Good Morning to the West Coasters when they get here :)
Heather, I only do container gardening, so I don't really have weed issues, but i am actually jealous of you having to pull weeds. I miss working in a big garden/yard. Glad to hear Logan just has a cold. hopefully he will feel better soon.

Yes, this benefits Texas Children's hospital, and the kids are having alot of special activities at the school today. This all ties into the school's namesake -- David Vetter, known to the world as the Bubble Boy and the David Center at Texas Children's where they treat immuno deficiency diseases. It ia also special to me because I spent a lot of time there one month of my childhood -- my sister was the patient, but it fell over Christmas and I was there a lot with her and meeting other patients and their families.
So far, the weather looks great! Hope it holds. :)

Thanks. I think the first treatment already gave some relief to the one nerve going down my arm that was screaming loudest. My right handed grip was 26 and the left was 43 or 45. That's scary considering that I am right handed. It has been several years since I did a round of PT, and I think I have probably forogotten as much as I remembered and have let things creep away from me -- not realizing that when things got a little worse and then better that they weren't back all the way to where they should be. Time for a tune up,a nd I think I'm in very good hands. My co pay is 3 times what it used to be, and there's a limit on number of visits, so I'm a little concerned about that, but we'll see how it goes.
I want to get going on some things, but I was trying to change a setting on the computer and got things fouled up. I now have them back to where they were and think I will leave that for now and try to figure out how to make the link windows appear full size later.

Popping in late to say hello and happy weekend! I'm doing a lot of running around this morning- finishing a project and talking to clients who all seem to be traveling today- lots of bad mobile phone connections and callbacks. I haven't had time to read the whole thread yet, but I promise I will!
I don't know what we're doing this weekend- we don't have any plans. Except for watching some basketball. :) And I am going back to Weight Watchers on Saturday for the first time since we were married. I would like to lose these last 25 or so pounds that I never got around to during my previous effort. So, back to counting points, but I think it will be worth it!

Leigh,
I'm glad they caught Ginger's lazy eye before it got any worse! I have to wear glasses most of the time and I have no vision in my left eye, which is the laziest one. I can see pretty good out of my left so I don't have to wear glasses all of the time. It's definetly not fun, regardless! I don't think in the seventies they knew too much about lazy eyes.
Hello to everyone!
I missed the lazy eye. My oldest boy had lazy eye and we were very glad they caught it. We hadn't a clue at the time. It was easily corrected. PM me if Ginger has a hard time with wearing patches over her eye.

Heather, we're planning on registering at Bed Bath & Beyond and Bloomingdale's. I was thinking Crate & Barrel too, but I was worried because much of their stuff is seasonal. Their furniture, OTOH ... I wish! ;)
Loren, actually, it's a completely different dress. The one my Mom liked was even more expensive, go figure. This one is a silk satin strapless modified A-line with a silk taffeta twisted sash with streamers. My dress will have a straighter skirt without the inverted pleats on the side, and an ivory sash (so ivory on ivory), rather than the café color in the picture. You can see the back view here (http://www.marisabridals.com/) (the picture is too big to post).

Good morning (afternoon)!
Jen, I'm glad to hear that your race went so well. How did you like Oxnard?
Beth, Did you injure your hand? I may have missed how that happened. I hope it goes well for you.
Kristin, How lovely to be ordering your dress! It's so wonderful to dress up and feel beautiful.
Leigh, I think your bathroom idea sounds great! Besides, it's only paint. If you decide you don't like it, you could always paint it again.
DH and I will be missing each other all weekend. He is playing D&D tonight and a live action role playing game tomorrow. I decided that I don't have enough fun at live action games to play, unless they ask me to provide the food. I love making pretty food that people exclaim over. Improvisation of politics is just too hard for me to have much fun at it. So I will be doing homework and home-work.
I've been having problems getting my pond clean. I finally found an internet source that explains each step that you need to go through for a clear pond. And I want to replant around the pond, too. Plus I have to start shopping for bathroom appliances. My landlord wants to redo the bathroom, and she's letting me pick everything. Yay!
Sunday I have an all day corset-making workshop. The corsets are supposed to be 80% finished by the end of the day.

Hi All:
Sorry I missed you last week, but the boys really keep tight control of the computer :D How many hours of computer games can two boys (and their friends play)? The answer is UNLIMITED if given a chance ;)
My mom's pathology report came back. It was not great news, it had spread to the lymph nodes. She should see an oncologist next week and then a treatment plan will be devised. Fortunately her spirits are still great, she is in very little pain and has been released to drive so the recovery is going well.
Not much planned this weekend. Taking the boys to services tonight since the 6th graders help lead the service. Tomorrow day is errands, cooking (for Monday's seder) and hopefully a pedicure/manicure if I have the time. Saturday night Jim and I will finally have a date (we email and he came by the hospital but with 4 kids between us, travel, work, etc its hard to find the time  ). Sunday more cooking is planned. Hopefully I'll get outside and get some weeding done and enjoy what is supposed to be a great weekend with temps back in the high 70's.
The psyhic party sounded like fun. I sortof believe (only the good things of course).

Kristin,
The dress is beautiful!!!
Linsley,
The current opinion is that if you catch it before age 9 there's still enough plasticity in the eye to correct the problem.
Beth,
The Dr thinks we can have her vision corrected in 3-4 months with wearing the patch all day! She was +5 in her right eye, but the specialist changed her RX to +4 at the first. We'd done a patch for a few hours every day before we saw him.
She's doing pretty well with the patch, and her vision has improved some already. We're putting it on before we head out to the bus stop in the AM (about 7) and taking it off shortly before bedtime (7:30) or so. We're having battles over brands. We had Coverlet, but when I got a new box the store only had Nexcare. She likes the Coverlet better. I'm not tossign a box of perfectly good patches when they are over $5.00 for 20!!!
She has a friend in first grade who also has a lazy eye, and she wears a patch to school as well. Also, her friends & classmates have been super and no one has teased her at all!!!!
Stephanie,
Go Tech!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D *duck*
Colleen,
"It's only paint" was my thought as well. Pretty easy to change if I don't like it. Now all I need is the time to do it! Oh, and I haven't mentioned this idea to DH yet.

Tyra, Sorry to hear that the news wasn't better with your mom. Continued hugs and prayers coming your way. This still sounds a lot like DBF's mom (DXed last Sep; surgery on 10/17). I believe she just finished her treatment, and other than a few minor snags that go along w/ chemo, she is doing great.
Collency-I loved what I saw of CA. Didn't see much of Oxnard. We were at/around the hotel most of the time. I did make it to a Farmer's Market to get some strawberries (didn't eat them all), and I brought home some oranges and avocados. I was amazed-3 giant oranges and 3 avocados for $2!
We loved the weather, and it appears that we lucked out as race day was in the 80s and very nice, while this weekend is considerably cooler.

Band vs DJ. Unless the band can play a wide variety of music, you might be happier with a DJ. I got married in LA and used studio musicians which was great because they could play anything we wanted. If the band has a limited selection a DJ can keep the various ages (play some old stuff for your parents, newer stuff for you and your friends, etc). As long as the emcee (either way) has a good personality, I think you'll be okay.

Other than the fact that the cancer seemingly came out of nowhere, I'm not surprised that it is in her lymph nodes. It would have been really odd (but nice) if it had been contained to just her breast. So, the pathology report really hasn't surprised any of us. I just want a good outcome :D I jokingly said to her last night that if it was me...I have always wanted to be a redhead and maybe she could get a red wig. Something tells me that she will only get a natural brown one though if need be ;)

When you would you recommend a student get tutoring help? My son is very passive about his Spanish 1 class...and just informed me that he has a 68% (therefore a 'D') for the quarter. I have suggested that he should spend at least 15 minutes a night reviewing what they did in class and if he wanted a tutor, I would hire one. He needs at least a 'C' to get into Spanish 2 next year and since the UC/CSU system require two years of the same language, he needs Spanish 2!
Must feel good to have a free weekend. I would think grading is easier than coming up with the lesson plan.

Grading is easier for me. ;)
I think what you need to identify first is why your son is passive in class. Does he not enjoy it? Is he not getting it? Doesn't like the teacher? If he works at night, just making flashcards and what not, it should help. Does he like to learn using the computer? Check out www.quia.com for some exercises. Take the topic he is covering and do a search for it. There are even some teachers that do exercises to coordinate with a book - you can search by the book title, and find the section he is on. It's great for learning vocab. Tutoring may help motivate him as well. If he doesn't like the teacher, his learning will need to take place outside of the classroom.

Linda, I have really bad allergies. They used to keep me feeling sick and exhausted for months at a time. I finally found relief in a combination of Singulair and Nasalcrom. Nasalcrom is over-the-counter non-addictive nasal spray. Singulair is for allergies and asthma. Claratin doesn't work for me and neither does Allegra (although I did get the back aches!)
I hope you're able to find something that works for you. Allergies are so miserable!

Maureen, yes, Kits beach. Just because its closer. Jericho is gorgeous, but a little more of a walk.
Tyra, I remember being 12 or something and wading in the ocean off Lincoln City, Oregon. On Christmas Day!!!! With my cousins. It was fun, but I really did not feel the cold.

just saw your post. Colleen, is Singulair a prescription antihistamine? My doctor keeps telling me to try different OTC pills. i have done Reactine, Claritin, Benadryl and so on. they work for a couple days, then start weakening. i also have a nasal spray which gives me nosebleeds. And steroids for the asthma (set off by teh allergies) and hydrocortisone cream for my face.
I will have to look for that Nasalcrom.

You're taking steroids for the asthma? Aren't those prescription?
If you can get your Dr. to rx you singulair, maybe you could try it for a couple of weeks to see if it works for you. It could be prescribed for you asthma and help your allergies as a side effect, because it's for both, but some insurance companies don't want to cover it as an allergy pill.
The nasalcrom is otc. I have never had a nosebleed from it. It does kind of cover the inside of your nose in white gook, but it even keeps my eyes from itching.
I guess the nasalcrom does a lot of the work. But now that I have singulair, I can even go to my mom's house without having an asthma attack. (She has cats.)

I'm sorry if I seem to really be pushing them. I've just really suffered with allergies since I was about 12. I really hate doctors that won't take the problem seriously. It's very much a quality-of-life issue. I used to use up every minute of my sick time and need more. Now I hardly use it at all!

No fear, its always good to learn about new options. The steroids are prescription and cost me roughly 100$/month. He takes the asthma seriously, but not the allergies:rolleyes: I should ask him about Singulair then. Since I am allready spending teh money on prescriptions.

That's really odd that drs don't take allergies seriously. Mine are what trigger my asthma. Of course, my dr doesn't take my asthma too seriously, because it's so mild.
Good luck!
Kristin, I didn't see the other dress, but the one on this thread is gorgeous. I think all ivory would be great, but the contrast does make the detailing show up in the photo.
Leigh, in case you don't get the notification, I snet you a PM.
Tyra, I'm sorry your mom's news wasn't better, but I am glad she is in good spirits. That's a big plus as she goes forward.
My son is using singulair and a nasal spray this year with none of the other stuff, and he's doing the best ever since this all began. The allergist says he deemd to have more irritable airways than allergy triggers -- which was a surprise to us. We thought it was allergies. Anyway, there have been news stories about the horrible pollen levels this year, and we're doing better. Go figure!
Colleency, my hand is a by-product of the neck problems that started about 7 years ago. When things get worse, I have problems all down my arm and into my hand and my shoulders and back tighten up and get out of whack just so they won't be forgotten. I had been doing much better at keeping things in a tolerable range, but I think I have been diong too much and stressing too much and not realizing that things weren't getting back to "normal" in between. I had lost range of motion and strength. My doctor told me last visit that if I didn't work at getting it back, I would lose it forever. Not good.
It's looking like rain here. It can rain tonight and later tomorrow (I don't care that much if the soccer game gets rained out), but I hope we have a couple of hours of dry tomorrow morning so we can geta dry run in.
DH should be home any minute, so I'd better head to the kitchen. Rented Something's Gotta Give to watch tonight. A quiet night.
Have a good one everyone. :)

Beth:
Enjoy the movie. I personally thought it was very good (a little stupid) but still good.
Have a nice weekend.
