I just joined WW......and have been looking at the various vegetarian cookbooks when I go to meetings. Wondering if any of you have used them and can comment.

Anyone?

I have used Versatile Vegetarian (there are some reviews and recipes on this board I think if you do a search) and Down to Earth. I like both books but VV doesn't have any pictures and I like pictures. LOL.

Down to Earth is one of the magazine cookbooks and I am not sure if it is in print anymore. I think it is worth it though to buy from e-bay. Tons of good recipes in that one.

Thanks!

I saw DOWN TO EARTH when I was there last week. It looked good, but you never know till you can sit there and read thru it, KWIM?

thanks for responding!

I know KValley has posted reviews and recipes from versatile vegetarian and she really liked them. You will probably be able to search them.

Funny that this came up - I just got VV, and made my first recipe from it last night! I made their Macaroni & Cheese, and totally loved it. All of the recipes in the cookbook tempt me - but that is not a surprise, since that's what happens with most cookbooks!

As a suggestion, why not try seeing if your local library has a copy of VV, or could get it from another branch? Then you can take your time, try a recipe or two, and see if you think it'll fit in your cookbook collection.

I have both VV and DTE and I definitely prefer VV. I always seem to open up DTE and think, "Hmm, I could make that if I had all the ingredients." With VV I open it and start cooking! DTE is also a little heavy on cheese which is my red light food.

Do be aware, VV is "pointed" for the 123 Success Program and not Winning Points or FlexPoints. (Meaning the good ol' days when the PointsFinder went down to 11 grams of fiber :) ) Most recipes are still right on in points values, but if you're seriously tracking, use the nutrition info for a quick double-check.

I sure wish WW would come out with more veggie cookbooks!
