Feeling down in the dumps today! Just in need of good distraction -- anyone have any good (or bad) jokes? Words of encouragment? Going through a tough time -- nothing serious but enough to make me not eat or sleep for the last couple of days. So . . bring on those funnies! TIA!

Just sending a hug your way. No funnies for a Monday here. Slow going with the time change. Maybe I will appreciate it tonight tho'.
Do you at least have some sunshine this morning? It is out here and looks good. Too bad it's 26 but 48 is predicted.
Hope things get better!

Sorry you're having a tough time...I hate feeling that way. :( I don't think I'm awake enough to think of a joke right now.:) Maybe you can try doing the 'it could be worse' game...
at least i'm not...
allergic to chocolate
shoveling a foot of snow
expecting a vistit from my MIL
out of coffee
out of meds
:)
Hope it gets better.

I just spent 10 minutes trying to figure out how to insert a sound clip from the movie Office Space but couldn't do it. This reminds me of the scene where the lady says
"Uh oh, sounds like someone's got a case of the Monday's!"
It's much funnier as a wave file, but you get the drift. Things will turn around :).

Okay, REALLY bad joke I was told by an employee yesterday.
HOPE THIS DOESN'T offend anyone.
The head monk tell his assistant that he is going to take apart the scriptures part by part and truly try to understand all of it's contents so that he may share in the power of the "word" with everyone. His young assistant asks, "But master, what if the translations are wrong?" The elder monk looks at him and smiles, "Son, the men who have translated these Holy Scriptures are intelligent and devote men. They could never mistranslate the text."
With that the monk walks away. Down the corridor in a small room he hears a monk weeping. He walks into the room and see's the monk sorrounded by manuscripts and the Holy Scriptures. "Oh my son, it's obvious that the word of the Lord has moved you this day."
The monk, tears in his eyes looks up at the elder and says,
<<Ready, here it comes>>
"It says, CELEBRATE!!"
Get it, Celebrate. Heee hee hee.
It's bad, I know, but it's the best I got.
Hope it helped a little.

Alisajean,
I hear where you are coming from. I cried myself to sleep Friday night and then was awakened by a late phone call and proceeded to cry myself asleep for the second time. Pretty pitiful huh? But, I always try to do an inventory of the things I am thankful for when I am down in the dumps so I'll start it off:
I am thanful for....
THIS BULLETIN BOARD
my family (especially the step father who is trying to plan a surprise visit for me to Houston for my mother)
my cat
my health

Oh je I'll join the pity party!
I'm thankful that I go to see the beautiful almost-full moon set this morning as the sun rose behind me. I love the moon, and his friends the stars. (Sorry, sounds weird. But I do)
I'm thankful that I'm still young and have time to accomplish all my goals, like hiking the Appalachian Trail and canoeing the Boundary Waters.
I'm thankful that this is a short work week and I'm off next week.
I'm thankful for my friends Lindsay and Red, who I know will greet a crying, worn-down Trudi at the airport Wednesday night with lots of hugs and kisses.

I was pretty amazing, wasn't it? I actually smiled this morning when I looked at it and not much makes me smile at 6:15.

I've been blue too.
I'm thankful for my DH, who hugs me and pats me when I cry (and lets me snuffle into his shirt).
I'm thankful that I'm able to sew, even though it's really hard for me and takes me forever.
I'm thankful that I have a job with insurance.
Maybe I better get more basic. I'm thankful for:
people who let me pet their puppies
a scoop of chocolate and a scoop of butter pecan
novels
And here's a bad joke, which I hope no one finds offensive:
A young man walks into a drugstore to buy condoms for the first time ever. The cashier says, "That will be $5.85, including tax." The aghast young man says, "Tacks?!? I thought they just stayed on!!"

Alisa--
Sorry you're feeling blue! It's no fun. A couple of suggestions:
1. Check out Kayla's Other Stuff thread, "Ladies versus Read Women." It's funny!
2. Can you work in a good walk today? I read once that the exercise that best calms a troubled mind is walking, and I have found it to be true.
I'm sending you warm thoughts!

I hope that your day gets better. I got a few good jokes today, including a picture of the latest in men's swimwear.
Unfortunately, they are not appropriate for sharing here. ;)

Hey! :) Hope things are looking up for you today.
What do you call a cow with no legs?
-Ground Beef!
What do you call a fish with no eyes?
-Fsh!
:D Hope these helped - they're among my very worst. Just wait if you ever go out to eat with me, and I'll haul out the salt and pepper jokes.

Mary Kate -- there you are -- did I miss the thread on your trip? Hope you had a good time! Thanks for the jokes! I've lost 7 lbs. since Friday; I really love this being stressed out stuff.
