I am considering cooking a rump roast for Easter. Has anyone ever put a rump roast on the rotisserie on the grill? What did you use for spices and basting sauce?

Thanks!

Did anyone ever do this. I have a rump roast in the freezer and want to use it. I can't stand the idea of heating up the house with the oven. Anyone try it on the grill????

I have rotiseried an eye of round roast but not a rump roast. It was very taasty. Don't know if this helps, but the eye of round is considerably leaner than a rump roast.

I don't see why you couldn't. Just be sure to tie it up good so chunks don't fall out. Probably cook it for the same time as roasting in the oven. IMHO, anything that's done on the rotie usually turns out great, that self basting thing.

If you're going to do it on the rotisserie then it has to be fairly even in size (not one end large than the other) to get it to cook evenly. It should do great on the rotisserie. It will take a minimum of 1 1/2 hours(depending on the size of your roast) for rare (140º) and you'll need to maintain a fairly high heat 400º.
