I read your post about the wine charms and tried to go to the website, wine enthusiasts that you had mentioned but I can only get on their home page, everything else has expired. Any other suggestions? I'd really like to get some for gifts, great idea!!

I saw these at a wine shop in Texas. I think they would be easy to make. You could make them like beaded bracelets(some also have a charm in the middle of the bracelet), and make each one a different color so that every guest knows which glass is theirs. Wrap around the glass, or several times around the stem. I agree with you, what a neat idea! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

I have also seen small paper name tags that slip onto the stem of the glass to identify your glass. They are just small circle with a small hole in the center and there is a slit to the center hole, so you can write you name on the tag. I have seen these at a Wine shop here in Austin.

I just ordered 2 sets, 1 for me and 1 for my parents from www.surlatable.com (http://www.surlatable.com) They have some great things. I'll let you know what they look like when I get them. It should be about a week.

I just looked at wineenthusiast.com for you. Here's the link. http://www.wineenthusiast.com/cgi-bin/sgsh0101.exe
If that doesn't work for some reason, go to wineenthusiast.com & type in "charm" in their search thing.
I've also seen these charms at my local wine shop.

Sorry I just got back from a meeting. The charms that the Wine Enthusiast sells look like an earing with tiny gold or silver beads and a different charm (wine bottle, grapes, corkscrew, cheese wedge, wine glass, etc.) There are 6 to a set (3 gold, 3 silver) and the sets sold for $24.95 or $19.95 for two or more. I gave them to a friend who had a brunch at Christmas and it was great to be able to keep track of your glass of wine! Hope you have luck finding them or maybe you could make your own if you could find the little charms! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

I love Sur La Table! They have wonderful stuff but are a little pricey. I am fortunate to have a store here in Houston...

I made these for Christmas presents, with charms and wire I bought at Hobby Lobby. The store bought one I had seen had kind of dopey (to me) charms. I was able to customize the charms for my gift recipients (seashore theme, Western, etc.).

Thanks everyone! I tried yesterday for 20 minutes and could only get wineethusiasts homepage, nothing would work! Oh well, but an interesting note that surlatable sells the same wine glass charms for less than wineenthusiasts! Unless you get the 19.99 for 2 sets, then they are the same price! Tonight I will order them, but I may have to have one set for us-!

I received my wine charms from surlatabla, and they are great! A great idea for a hostess gift.

What kind of wire did you use? I've been interested in making these as gifts but can't seem to find the right kind of wire.

Everyone, if you are interested in buying these charms, try www.thatwineismine.com (http://www.thatwineismine.com) This site has about 10 different themes of wine charms. They are in the same price range, though.

FYI
Just rec'd my last issue of The Wine Enthusiast Catalog and the wine charms are on sale. Haven't been to the web site yet to see if they are listed or not. They are on sale for $21.21/set or 2 sets for $17.91/set
The phone # is 1-800-377-3330 and the stock # is S4912 you can choose form the Vineyard or Grapevine patterns.
Note: Just checked the web page and the charms are displayed. Use the key word search and enter wine charms. There is a thumbnail picture that you can enlarge.

I have to admit that I too am trying to make them so I can individualize them. My only problem is closing them. I bought hoop earrings but they aren't working.
Ewatkins, can you help c14me and me?
What kind of wire and how do you close them? TIA
Lastly, where can you buy Good charms, not cheap looking ones?

Hi saw these in a catalog also but thought they were a little pricey for what they were so ended up making a bunch of them. I used already made tear drop shaped earring wires that have the little hook on the bottom so they go around the bottom or top of the stem (if the glass has a bubble at the top of the stem they look nice dangling from there). I then put a charm in the part where an earring would hang - then put a couple of beads - one on each side of the charm. As far as the charms go I was unable to find charms like the ones in the catalogs. Theirs had cool wine/food themes. I am still looking on the web though figuring they had to come from somewhere! I did find others that I liked in different themes - some were moons, sanddollars, dragon flys, suns, etc. To give as a gift I stamped some card stock with a stamp of a bunch of grapes and leaves,I had already printed on the paper with my pc "That Wine Is Mine". I then clipped them on the card. They were fun to make and I made a bunch this way for hostess gifts.
